The Mrs and I had a blast celebrating my aunts 60th this weekend at Treehouse Brewery. I would consider this tops for microbreweries in New England. Highly recommended if anyone happens to be in Massachusetts (I also require an invite if so).

I always try to bring a flask to these things but Katie’s all “That’s not appropriate, it’s 10 am, you’re an alcoholic, blah blah blah.”

I‘m on a ‚suprise trip‘ with my youngest. We both have this week off and when I asked him weeks ago where we should go, he said he didn‘t know (teenager). Last week I said I have a plan: we both have ‚Deutschland tickets‘ so we can take any regional (slow) train in Germany. On monday we packed our rucksacks and went to the station. He can choose which train we take, and I care for food and lodging.
This led us to Hamburg on a short visit to his elder sister, and then to Göttingen, a University town where I had my medical training in the 90s and where his elder siblings were born. He had never seen it, but heard many stories. By chance it was freshmen week, the first week of the autumn semester, and the streets were packed with new students partying till late night. Was quite emotional for me.
Now we are on our way to Bremerhaven to see the Klimahaus and the Auswandererhaus.
And then … Who knows, he can decide, atm it might be Lübeck. I love it.

and the ‚Gänseliesel‘. There is a tradition for more than 100 years, that when you receive your doctors degree, you clime up to her and give her a kiss. I did in 2001. Sounds a bit pedophile when I think about it now.

@sabergirl I enjoy all modes of transportation when travelling - bus, boat, car, rail and sometimes flight, but going by rail is always something special
