Norways opener is my favorite goal so far. Ref seemed to lose control a bit in the end. Congratulations to the English! Bellingham is having a great tournament.
-
How drunk are you English right now?
-
@mclaincausey not at all. May have made the game bearable

Not me. Watching the next game

This was me earlier, well done England! I'm surprised Norway took Haaland off...

@mclaincausey
About 5 beers in now and it’s not even mid day here, it’s 12 o’clock somewhere -
Embolo…. Dude…… what a moronic play. Couldn’t have timed that more poorly. Right when you have them on the ropes, with a yellow, taking a dive at midfield?
Catastrophic stupidity.

France were very disappointing.

The way Spain plays, it almost never feels like they're playing amazing, but it always feels like their opponent is having an off day.

Super nervous about the game this evening. Narratives with England versus Argentina are undeniable and then a potential final against Spain, who beat us in the Euro's back in 2024. Not sure my heart and mind will make it through this. Considering my heart is in my mouth and my mind is distorted thanks to the painful memories of the past.
Showing my age - I remember the World Cup in 1982 (I was 9 years old), England unbeaten but failed at the second stage (format was confusing back then). I mostly remember that tournament because of Brazil v Italy - possibly the game that made me a fanatical football fan (well that and Tottenham winning back to back FA Cup's in 81 and 82). The Rossi hat-rick left me shattered because I was obsessed by that iconic Brazil side.
Then 1986, Hand of God, pretty difficult to forget this one. Then 1990 - Gazza, the Germans, those pens. Then every single WC after that, watching in pubs in and around the Walthamstow area of East London, pouring out into the streets when we won. Less said about what happened when we lost. Golden Generation a let-down. EL Tel era promised so much (it's coming home) but then Germany once more returned to haunt us (nope, not coming home).
Southgate's redemption arc as a manager gave us something fresh and new to believe in. But alas, the perpetual dreamers continue to dream. Once more, I'm stood waiting to see if that dream becomes lucid - or I end up suffering another bout of chronic sleep paralysis.
This is England.

We were on holiday in a caravan in North Wales when Mexico 86 was on.
My brother and me flattened my Dad’s car battery listening to England play Argentina on the car radio. He wasn’t too pleased.
Was a bad night all round

@Nick I remember that Brazil v Italy game so well. Like you, I was absolutely gutted that they lost.
I had a similar feeling seeing Holland lose to West Germany in 1974 ( yes, I’m old) .
Alongside Hungary in 1954 ( no, I’m not that old) the three greatest teams never to win the World Cup.
