IHM-37-BLK - Oiled Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Black
-
Finally found/pulled the trigger on one. Took my sweet time figuring out sizing (hope I got there!). I think I’m a little dizzy from all the fit pics and other folks measurements I’ve compared…pics when it lands…stoked!
-
Mine arrived from Division Road earlier today. I grabbed the last XXL from their Boxing Day sale.
For those wondering, this fits the same as my Khaki and Brown N1s.
-
Finally I received my replacement in L. I’m gonna miss the extra room as it’s was comfortable, but looked and felt too boxy - and I like oversize. But this one feels much better. I just took it out for a walk in the snow storm and it worked great with just a T-shirt. I can still layer with no problem.

Absolutely love this jacket size xxxxl

@hgering27 great fit. what a hoss

I don’t know if this is the right place to ask this, but it is regarding this product…
First time iron heart owner here. I was generally happy with the purchase, but after 2 weeks of regular wear, I noticed the stitching under left side of armpit area is coming off.
Purchased from authorized retailer listed here.
Is this stitching an essential part of the structure of the garment? Any suggestions on what I should do?

@ShopatIronHeart will chime in and give advice.

Is it pretty safe to assume that N1 deck jackets in some iteration will be announced in the FW26? I need a new riding jacket and this is my first choice.
@ShopatIronHeart@jordanscollected How are you liking your N1 for winter wear?
-
@Denman-John yep, more N1s this fall for sure
-
@Denman-John I wore it almost exclusively all winter after I received it in December. I live in Minnesota and it gets very cold here. The body of the jacket holds up to all the cold that gets thrown at it. I absolutely loved reaching for it every day.
The only place where cold is felt is the upper arms. The quilted arms are great for getting the jacket on and off, but insulation suffers a tad in the coldest temperatures.
When wearing it inside, either the car or a store where the temp is much warmer, I never overheated so the insulation regulates pretty well.
I was going back and forth between this and the Primaloft parka and ultimately bought the N1 because I have a nice winter tech jacket made by G-Lab. When I’m out on a winter hike and the hat and gloves come off, it’s nice to have the gear pockets while still having hand warmer pockets. The N1 isn’t meant to be a tech jacket but it’s notable that it lacks storage a bit.
If you are between sizes, size up and enjoy the layering room. I took and xl in this but I could probably pull off a xxl and be fine.
I 100% endorse the Oiled N1 it’s worth every penny. Just don’t throw away your North Face or Patagonia tech jacket, as they will still serve their purpose too.

@AdamJ Thanks Adam, much appreciated!
@jordanscollected So happy to hear that you like it. I’m mainly looking for a general purpose winter jacket that can double as a riding jacket in the early & late season. Riding in April/May & September/October is cold here and looking for something to keep me warm, cut the wind, and keep the odd sprinkle at bay. The A2 is also in consideration, but I’m thinking the N1 will be warmer on the bike. I’ll check the measurements when they are being released and make a decision based on those. Thanks again for your input!
-
@Denman-John I will say that for riding, the sleeves are extra long. The cuff sits right where they should, but I bet you’ll get extra benefit from longer sleeves on the bike.

@jordanscollected Thanks for this detailed experiential info! Very much anticipating the upcoming FW26 preview and hoping this will be my year to finally score an N1.
