At last the weather has turned here so had a chance to give this a run. Super warm and a great fit. More than enough for UK weather but if I lived in Northern Europe or Canada/part of the US I would need an N1. Couple of design flaws, there should be a press stud in either side of the breast pocket as arm movement makes the side curl up and the press stud for the collar makes using it too tight. Apart from that nailed it and the oiling is awesome. Super dry.

I'm a good old Canadian, and this seems perfect for layering. I'm on the fence about l or xl, as it has to be able to zip up all the way with layers, 6ft, 190lbs and about the same as Sam B in measurements. Is there a huge difference in l to xl for me?

I have a XL in the original whipcord version. I’m 6’ 175 and could probably fit into a Large with no problem, but the XL gives plenty of room for layering. I can wear a Dehen sweater underneath and still not feel constricted. I would love to try a Large (mine was a eBay purchase at a great prices)but given your height and weight and wanting to layer, I think the Xl would work well. I’m finding the shoulder measurements to be one of the more critical measurements for me to be comfortable in IH.

@Blackgrass Thank you. Will likely get xl then.

Thought I would give my thoughts on this. A solid 8/10. More than warm enough for the UK and whilst the oiled has only come into use twice out of many wears it has held up to the rain admirably and wiped straight off. Wasn’t a fan of the oiled version to start but now it has worn off slightly it looks much better.
A couple of niggles though. The central button on the breast pocket is a major design flaw as the left hand side sticks up annoyingly within seconds of brisk walking. It needed a popper on either side, not just the middle. The waist cinches are useless as they revert back to loose within seconds of tightening. Would have loved an inside pocket too and the zip can be a royal pain in the butt to do up but all in all a decent coat and has held up to many a dog walk.

I have the N1 oiled black in L - that I wish was a little roomier in the chest and shoulders without having to size up to XL. Would this jacket give me that extra space in L? Or should I size up to XL? I'm thinking ahead of time if it ever comes back 🙂

@rovdjurstorget until the jacket comes back, it would be impossible to say until the new batch is measured. Dimensions may change between runs making any advice offered now unhelpful in the future.
