Another week bashing away in Portugal, chasing the big one. Did not even catch a small one
But the scenery, food, booze and company made it not matter....

One of the reasons I love fishing so much is that it levels people. If we fish, we have a common interest.
Tonight, I went to the wake of a friend I made fishing, we bumped into each other on the shore one night, really the only thing we had in common was fishing.
He was a true Gozza, no teeth through substance abuse, a beat up old van that had seen considerably better days, and never any credit on his phone, so he used mine.
I never went to any of the legendary illegal raves he organised, but we did have fun together on remote beaches. Whilst I tried to stay awake by blinking my eyes and walking around, he would appear out of the back of the van, wiping his nose, and raring to go......
I was met by his daughter tonight who said, "Have you seen the order of service? It's dad being arrested". My reply "which time?"
Go catch some fish up there Steve, if they'll let you in....

Had a very nice overnight excursion to the Metolius River. I’m now 0:2 (and minus a rod to boot from this last one, lol), at least my friend got one!

My son caught a nice bass today. Bonus bullfrog -
Trout fishing in Heber Springs, Arkansas was awesome. Hit the limit every day and ate fresh fish every night. 10/10 would do again!

On Saturday, my wife managed to catch a whitefish(Salmon family one) near our country house. With a fly! Not an easy feat. This fish has a very small mouth. She had a nice game of hide and seek. 900gr. Not bad. An hour earlier, a huge thunderstorm. An hour later, full sun, 25 degrees Celsius, not a breath of wind. Vulgata love parade everywhere.
Exceptionally, no catch and release this time.
After cleaning, it went straight into the freezer for future curing. Gravlaks. Delicatessen!
