For all who have their jeans hemmed:

If a store was using a Union Special 43200H, instead of the one-generation-older 43200G model, would that deter you in any way from having them hem your jeans?

Considering picking up a machine myself.

The above comment should be read with all the levity your current metal state will allow.

True to Size (TTS)....what the hell does this mean or what are people meaning when they refer to this? It's never made any sense to me.

I can see things being TTS in the fact that a size 9 show is smaller than a size 12 or that a size M is smaller than a 4XL, and perhaps even to say that they're smaller proportionally speaking for that brand's sizing as being "true to size", but beyond that it just breaks down for me.

Maybe this belongs in the rant section because it feels like a mostly useless phrase that's an inherently subjective term that lacks any objective standardization.

@pechelman when I use the term, it is in the context of I normally wear size XL and in this occasion I chose the same, neither sizing up nor down.

I agree with your argument that unless you know my normal size then tts is meaningless.

In general, it is loosely thrown around without context too often.

I wont lie, maybe 10 years ago when I just wore any old clothing, I would just buy "size medium" t-shirts and say that's my size, but it's totally subjective to different companies with different fits etc... I think the average person just says "yep i'm THIS size so I'll just buy that"

I think that's why it's important to still refer newcomers to actually measure their body/something that fits well

When I hear TTS I think of the difference of vanity sizing from department store jeans to a waist/tag size that is actually indicative to the actual waist measurement. Eg. I'm a 34waist in Levi's, wranglers, Lee, etc. but around 36 in IH and my actual waist measurements on all these different jeans are 36ish. Beyond the jump from life in vanity sized department store clothes to not, I don't really get the whole true to size thing.

Forgive me if this has been asked but has there ever been talks about making a 526PJ-OD? I can’t find anything on it. I know there been an unmodified one in the past that was 22oz and some selfedge ones. Just curious

Just a general question: I see a lot of Iron Heart items listed on eBay shipping out of Japan. How legit are these items? Are they authentic Iron Heart or knock offs?

@Choko Yep you're right we had the unmodified one in the past. I guess as we had the Lefty OD and 22oz OD for a while, we likely deemed it unnecessary at the time. Never say never though, would be nice to see one day I agree

100% agree, it is one of the most bollocks phrases in an industry full of bollocks phrases and nonsensical myths. Shrink to Fit (STF) winds me up even more. If you start with the wrong size, how the fuck will it shrink to fit?
