Catch of the day [Fishing]

My older brother recently sent me this. Back from our first ever sea fishing trip in the mid 80s. Abersoch in North Wales.

We sold the skate to a local restaurant.

We finally got a steelhead, wild so can't keep it, also was my friend not me but felt like victory for both of us as we've been putting in 6-8 hour days on the river together every weekend, very small return each year of hatchery and wild steelhead on the Chilliwack river. Now it's my turn!

Very nice. I am of to Indonesia on Wednesday for a diving trip. One travel rod, reel and a box of lures packed amongst the dive kit....

@Choko my favorite fish to catch. They fight as hard as a largemouth 2x the size.

Couple of my dad’s friends were fishing at the farm and took this large mouth. Biggest I’ve ever seen taken and they thankfully put it back

But the scenery, food, booze and company made it not matter....

One of the reasons I love fishing so much is that it levels people. If we fish, we have a common interest.

Tonight, I went to the wake of a friend I made fishing, we bumped into each other on the shore one night, really the only thing we had in common was fishing.

He was a true Gozza, no teeth through substance abuse, a beat up old van that had seen considerably better days, and never any credit on his phone, so he used mine.

I never went to any of the legendary illegal raves he organised, but we did have fun together on remote beaches. Whilst I tried to stay awake by blinking my eyes and walking around, he would appear out of the back of the van, wiping his nose, and raring to go......

I was met by his daughter tonight who said, "Have you seen the order of service? It's dad being arrested". My reply "which time?"

Go catch some fish up there Steve, if they'll let you in....
