@Alex Will it also be available one (possibly) last time in other cuts, 888 or 1955?

I'll spend next couple days reading this thread, but a quick question... I had a bad experience with Lewis shrink to fit. Took my usual size, they shrink about 2 sizes, they did stretch back out... Mostly! But size bigger post shrink I'd be happier...

I never could figure out my iron heart jean size, 38 or 40, one denim try on, I'm drowning in 40, next year try another 38 and it's pretty average slim fit (634), so I'm guessing if I do manage to snap a pair, I should go 40? Or even 42?

I was gunning for 25oz but if this is last run, I might snap up those instead...

@rimaarts I buy the pair with the waist measurement closest to my desired end measurement. For example, if I want an end measurement (after they’ve stretched) of 35” then I look for a posted measurement that is as close to that measurement as possible.

Yes they will shrink but they will stretch back out with time and wear (waist). The other areas will stretch some (except for inseam length).

                              Hope that helps.

@goosehd but that's the thing. I know waist will stretch more than enough. I know hips and tighs should somewhat stretch. But below knee won't stretch that much...

And like I said, I bought levis stf where I was happy pre shrink, but post shrink I realised id much rather have bought a size bigger...

On the other hand I bought samurai 25oz off eBay that were marked unsanforised, and they shrunk way way way less than my Lewis...

I don't like slim and tapered fits. And from iron heart only fit that sorta works for me is 634

@rimaarts this is hard to say, but the UHR might not be the denim for you and you may have better luck with 21oz.

The UHR shrinks fairly uniformly, but trying to pick a pair that shrinks to your desired measurements and stretches only in the right places might be very difficult to do. If you pick a bigger pair then when they stretch out will be too big in areas that you don’t want, and a pair on the smaller size may be too small below the knee.

You probably will be best served asking the guys at IHUK for help. Drop them an email shop@ironheart.co.uk for further help.

@rimaarts.You are concerned about them not stretching below the knee on a 634? Unless your calves are the same size as your thighs I dont see how that can ever be an issue. I am not trying to be condescending but thats the first time I heard a concern about below the knee tightness on a 634 cut.

@rimaarts I’ve been thinking about your dilemma most of the day and I’m not happy with my response.

What I’m trying to say is that there is quite a bit of variability in how something will shrink and stretch, which is very hard to define precisely.

I’m not trying to steer you away from UHR, but trying to stress that if you have found a cut that works for you, you may have better luck with the variability removed from the equation.

UHR is fairly easy to size if you’re only dealing with one specific dimension that you worry about. In your case, it sounds like you’re worried about the over all fit and the silhouette changing from your desired look.

The 634 will not become a different cut when it shrinks, but your worry is valid. How much the calves shrink is an unknown and the possibility of them stretching back out is even more uncertain.

I wish I could say for certain that post shrinkage that it would fit as you desire, but I can’t. To be honest, I don’t know if anyone can.

Your best bet would be to find the waist that suits you best and hopefully it has a calves measurement that when it shrinks suits you and your goals.

I hope this is a bit better explanation of what I meant earlier.

@goosehd explained it perfectly. Haraki is a very smart guy and all of those nuances are taken into account. Thats why the UHR measurements start bigger than the rest of the fabrics. The shrinkage is accounted for. They will undeniably look like 634's after the soaking. Mine looks wise is indistinguishable from any other 634 I own. Part of the beauty of IH is consistency that we usually do not praise enough.
