@stuartg don’t forget to soak them before committing to them! Possibly even wash too.

@worn2fade I’m quite happy to wear them without soaking first. That’s what I’ve done with all my previous raw denim.

@stuartg even though there’s still shrinkage left to be had since they’re not one-washed? If that’s your jazz, do your thing! Happy fading brotha!

@worn2fade They're still sanforized so not "RAW" and wont shrink that much, I still wash them though as it gets rid of all the starch and dirt from the factory and apparently tightens the threads, I didn't notice much shrinkage apart from the hem in my XHS/IB, and the waist just stretches back out.

Each to their own though, but sanforization removes shrinkage 🙂

@Jord yeah I know they’re not actually “raw” like the UHR’s for example, but if I’m not mistaken the shrinkage that happens at the inseam can shift your combs if you don’t soak in advance right? I may be mistaken but I thought I heard that can take place.

@worn2fade Yeah for sure could I would imagine, would depend on hemming length I guess. I've had sanforized jeans that haven't been one-washed from other brands and have been fine though... You seem like a perfectionist though so if that's your jam you gotta dial in all the details haha!

IMO denim weight impacts comfort and mobility, I have 777 in both 14oz and 21 oz that measure near identical but the 21oz feels more restrictive than the 14oz, both have different uses and neither are uncomfortable, but for sure a different feel. Love both my 777 FWIW.

But for 25oz I wanted the slightly higher rise of the 666 and also decided to size up on comparable 777 measurements for that slightly more relaxed look and feel, which has worked out perfectly.

I always wear a belt and am not worried about the waist stretching, so aimed for a waist that would shrink to only slightly below what I was aiming for. Which essentially gave the same result all over.

Soaked at 40c for about 35 mins with plenty agitation followed by a wash at 30c with no spin, hung dry. Tried to do it by the book. They will never see water that warm again as my wash routine is a tepid soak followed by a 20c wash no spin. Not sure why just the way I wash them jawns!

Got pre and poast soak pics AND measurements, hope that and the rest of this essay can be of use to someone in the future!

You can really see in the pics how that inky shine has instantly gone. Which explains the color of the bath water!

                  Pre soak

                  Waist 35”
                  Fr 11”
                  Rr 15.5”
                  Thigh 12”
                  Knee 9.25”
                  Hem 8.5”
                  Inseam 36.25”

                  Post soak

                  Waist 34”
                  Fr 10.75”
                  Rr 14.75”
                  Thigh 11.75”
                  Knee 9”
                  Hem 8.5”
                  Inseam 35.25”

                  IMG_1161.dng
                  IMG_1177.jpeg

Bit of room for hemming in the future, but plan to embrace the stacks and creases for now.
