IH-747-GRN - 8oz Ripstop Baker Pants - Army Green

For the first time in over a decade, baker pants are available for SS26. This style draws inspiration from the military fatigue/utility pants worn by U.S. troops in the 1950s, offering a wider, more relaxed fit and higher rise than many of our cuts. In Japan, these are referred to as “baker” pants, as their defining square patch pockets resemble loaves of bread.

This model is made from 8oz Japanese ripstop — a lightweight yet highly durable fabric, made tear-resistant by a pattern of reinforced squares woven throughout. This particular ripstop is woven with thicker cotton yarns for a stiffer feel, which are VAT-dyed and oxidised to create a colourfast finish that resists fading from washing, harsh conditions, and UV exposure.

Other key features include flap-down rear pockets with secure button fastenings, a brass zipper fly, and rear waist cinches — allowing the fit to be adjusted without a belt.

Can anyone please comment on the ripstop fabric … what’s it wear like? Is it anything like whipcord?

@Brandrea It is more crinkly than whipcord, the weave is not as tight so it's more flexible and a better option for the warmer seasons IMO.

These are definitely on my list. The cotton ripstop I’ve had in the past breaks in nicely and is almost like seersucker. I’d imagine they will be awesome for summer. I see these with the cotton/linen chambry shirt being my summer uniform.

@SamD Just wondering what the difference is between these, the painters, and the wides? I usually wear 777’s, so trying to find the leanest of them to get.

@newtoiron they are all sraight-ish cuts. Once production runs come, sizing charts will be published

@newtoiron As Alex mentioned, they are similar(ish) cuts, and we'll be able to provide an accurate comparision once the production runs are measured.

Based on the sample models, though, the wide pants have the highest rise and are the most relaxed through the leg profile. In my opinion, the bakers offer the leanest appearance, as they don't feature the hammer loop/extra pockets found on the painters pants.
