@Mizmazzle No, but I had always presumed it was a reference to the original ‘Body Jewellery’ moniker. 🤷

I want to order a e-gift card for a friends birthday. How long does it take to typically arrive? Is it instant? Asking because we are going to a party tomorrow to watch football and drink beer and it would be nice if the card arrived to him during the day tomorrow. Just trying to get the timing down.

Any one else have back issues? I’m starting to think perhaps my taller heeled boots (engineers) might be the cause of my lower back pain. I’ve been struggling with this issues for the last 7-8 months or so. Seems like when I take a break from my engineers, the pain subsides. But not always either. I know there is tons of evidence online that high heeled shoes can lead to back pain. But those usually state that heels 2” or below should be ok. Guessing I’ll take an extended break from my engineers. Which sucks because I usually wear them all the time.

Curious if anyone else might have any experience with this?

In the easy chair with my boots on, melted whiskey in my hand. Could'na been asleep for more than three hours...time to go to work again...

I have terrible chronic lower back pain, and years of herniated disc issues. I have to say, something that contributes to my back and hip pain is wearing tight or well-fitted heavyweight denim. 21 oz and below is usually okay, but if I wear my 23oz cargoes or 25oz that isn’t oversized, I will be in a world of hurt. I am in the process of sizing up my XHS game right now to see if I can still wear it at all.

                Getting old sucks!!

I had a pretty bad episode when walking around London in my Lofgrens last friday, and that was because of the boots. Was instantly better when changing to a pair of NBs the next day.

@sabergirl ah! It’s the worst. I am wearing my 555 XHS today. Never thought that might be a contributor. Do you think the heavy denim factor is a range of motion inhibitor that leads to odd posture or something along those lines?

I do find my bibs to pull on my shoulders enough to cause issues at times.

@tody I have definitely not been on top of working out and exercising like I used to as of late. I stretch and do a light core strengthening in the morning. But haven’t been getting much cardio or proper strength training.
Sorry to hear about the recent episode.

Yeah @Mizmazzle im pretty sure that it’s the range of motion in my hips that’s limited by tight heavy denims. Thigh is my problem area, and I definitely notice a difference in my pain level on the days when I wear the more constricting pairs.

i think you may have answered your own question there honestly. Core strength, hip flexor mobility, and overall balance go a long long way to overall health.

But I've actually found boots with a moderate heel can actually help fatigue in some cases. It becomes clear to me when I wear boots for a long while and then go for a walk in a shoe that has zero ramp, like chucks. My calves and feet get a bit more tired that they otherwise would.

@pechelman I think I need to make a concerted effort to get more active. For lots of reasons. But this back issue is like 3-4 days a week lately.

Something I do notice when I’m having more acute pain is that while I’m stretching (either child’s pose or on my back in a happy baby type stretch) sometimes I get a small pop that feels like a nerve or something realigning to where it’s supposed to be and it’s like instant relief. Been to the doctor and the chiropractor and they just keep telling me to do core work.

if you're looking for something simple you can do at home with minimal equipment i would highly recommend getting a good adjustable kettlebell (bos or kbk) and doing minimal stuff 2-3 days a week along with your stretching routine. I am far far far from an expert in this, but happy to share offline a few tips and stuff that has worked for me.

Back issues suck and I feel for you. I suffer periodic flare ups, usually when I’m actually “over-training” getting ready for a ski trip or something. I’ll just echo what everyone else has said about core training and stretching. I could see how heels on a boot would have negative effects over time though so that makes some sense to me. Did your back issues start before your Europe trip or was that the first time?

@SKT I had had an acute flare ups before. Not that often though. Like maybe once every couple or few years but also would go many years without anything. Think my first one started in my late 20s.

But since the UK trip it’s just been pretty consistently bothering me. Not quite to that extent as on the trip. But steady discomfort.

Back pain including chronic back pain is a consequence of a weak and tight lower back. Most remedies on back pain used by main stream focus on core stabilization and bracing but never address the real issue. I had a pretty severe injury about 20 years ago weightlifting. I hunted me for years. Feeling better and flaring up for no reason. Simple tasks as lacing my shoes can cause flare ups. I tried all the stretches and core exercises but nothing had lasting effects till I realized that I wasn't addressing the real issue. I started strengthening my low back directly. I mainly used the back extension machine and just body weight. I good place to be is a static hold for 120 seconds.. if you can do that work gradually increasing reps till you can get to 30 reps just body weight. Once you achieve that start adding some weight. 3x per week is a good frequency. It will take a few months to really see results but I am at a point that I cannot injure my back anymore. I can put my back I all kinds of compromising positions and feel confident that nothing will happen. Sorry for the long post but for most people low back issues are curable with the right approach..
