Ship John

@Darth-fader I still dream, some day! Iv tried and missed out on all the Kristofferson releases. But I haven’t lost hope. Some day
-
@paulmtg I'm between 2 and 3X. Everything but the shoulder checked out for me. Requested a wider shoulder but no luck. We'll see when it arrives.
-
Wow. Everything but 2X and 3X still available.
-
Dang missed out on the XL, congrats to those that got it!
-
Yeah also grabbed an L, first Ship John piece

Cross country in less than 48 hours! First ship john clothing. It feels very well built. For some reason I'm just not getting that iron heart level of build quality though. Maybe it's just the fabric weight. Either way it's a keeper. Was hesitant on sizing but my normal American XL worked out just fine.

Just delivered 2XL Denim Townes. Definitely going to need a warm soak to take a little bit of the size out. Will try a cold first, but I don’t think that’ll do much…This is my first Ship John shirt (aside from pocket T’s). I’ve got some of their other items collaboration boots, hats, etc. but it’s nice to finally try a proper shirt.
Initial impression: the cut feels much more generous than I expected, even though the measurements are very similar to my Iron Heart shirts(3xl/4xl). It’s especially noticeable in the cuffs, arms, and oddly enough, the chest. This one measures 25 inches across the chest, which is the bare minimum I can wear in Iron Heart, but it somehow fits much looser.
Construction and fabric are excellent. The denim has a really nice crisp, sturdy hand that I love.
All in all, I’m really happy with it just need to dial in the fit with a soak. I’m also really curious about the black Sashiko and how that one fits. I forget when that one will be ready, but really looking forward to it.

@northsouthdenimguy I have noticed we take similar sizes in a lot of IH tops. I would reach out to SJ and see if they have an XL left in store to swap out if you can prior to hot soaking. This one is on the money for me and even the arms have ample space in the bicep and through the forearm.
I reached out to SJ prior to wearing for good and it sounds like this fabric will not shrink much.
E: my chest in this top is closer to 24" and shoulder although measurements show ~19" are still comfortable enough to wear off the bat.

Yeah, that it would not work for me in the chest. I have an actual chest measurement of 48.5”
I just did the eco-warm wash on my washing machine no spin cycle. It’s out now drying(hang) and the chest measurement hasn’t changed. Definitely can tell the cuffs shrunk up a good bit and even looks like the arms did too so I think it worked out pretty well, but we shall see tomorrow. I typically don’t machine wash anything IH except the fatigue cloth shirts, chambray and maybe one or two other shirts but you can kind of just tell with certain pieces they just need initially that extra tumble of the wash.

@northsouthdenimguy great shirt, look forward to seeing fit pics.
-
I think It could still use some strategic soaking to shrink a little bit of the upper arms, but overall fits pretty good just more generous than IH of similar measurements.
-
@northsouthdenimguy It's perfect, and I would have sized the same. This is a legacy piece, and will be appreciated for many years. Congrats!
-
@northsouthdenimguy looks very solid. Mine comes tomorrow and I’m so excited
-
@northsouthdenimguy I picked up one of the denim Townes as well. It's a beautiful shirt! Wear it in good health.
-
@hgering27 nice! A couple buddies of mine also get theirs today.
-
@atm23 congrats so funny that everybody(me included) gets so excited about a shirt

Wild how much the fit changes with a hot wash and dry. Originally fit pretty big, but wearable so I did a soak and it shrunk a bit but not quite as much as I wanted. I hot washed and machine dried last night and now it fits exactly how I wanted
-
Looks great!
I’m debating hot washing. I still want to get a little bit out of the arm(width)but afraid it might shrink the chest and the arm length too much. I may just have to experiment a bit to get the fit dialed in exactly how I want it, but I think there’s enough room to do it.
