So cool, @Lynne. I think the 70cm length is probably good. I will have to measure the straps on my 25oz tote, which are maybe a few cms too short.

The key with totes for me is I want a bag that is easy to pick up and sling over the shoulder. If straps are too short, it’s impossible to pick it up with your right hand and get it smoothly to your right shoulder without using the left hand, too. I may be doing a poor job of describing this.

Totes can be tricky. The straps need to be long enough for shoulder carrying and short enough for hand carrying. Delicate balance.

If you could let me know your bag strap measurements that would be darling, thank you

@Matt so true - I think looking at how my Relove muses wore it so well this morning that we could have a good option in 70cm.
If you have a bag you love, do let me know strap length 🙏

@Lynne Very cool! Like @Oaktavia said, the fade patterns coming from pants and cut/sewn into bags creates a very cool look!

I’m have the one with the skull on it which is 23” and that shoulders ok but my black one from IH Germany is 27” and I feel like that’s enough room for both shoulder and hand carrying. Depends on the length of the bag too I guess. 25” could be a sweet spot.

Never mind, I just noticed that 70 cm is about 27” so it seems like you have it figured out.

Just saw that the RE:LOVE muses are nearly all taking one hand on the handles.
This reminded me of the possibility to make a three handle tote.
Two shorter ones and the larger strap then can be also worn across the shoulder @Lynne.

@Matt I was just doing a quick conversion as you were replying 😊 We’re in the right ball park then.
I’m 5’4” and can carry it without dragging it on the ground. So let’s say we won’t go any longer than 70cm.

Beautiful fabrics. I only have enough to make 5 of these at the moment. So, if anyone has any jeans at home they’re not wearing then please consider Reloving them 🙏

                        Smaller bags to follow.

@Aetas I love multi- handle/purpose bags, thank you.

My main constraint is having enough fabric. The straps are already hungry at 70cm x 10cm a piece - that’s the bulk of one side of a leg. I’d struggle to find more fabric for more handles at the moment I’m afraid.

The other consideration is that I want to add two copper snaps to the top band which would be where the extra handles would be placed. The snaps wouldn’t then cope with so many layers of fabric.

I love this bag, see pic, which has a neatly concealed smaller set of handles too - and pockets. And have looked at ways of incorporating this into the design, along with considering adjustable sliders etc, but the thickness of all the heavyweight fabric is too much.

However! I’m also working on lighter weight 14oz bags, that are a more average tote bag size. This is where the extra handles could work - stay tuned! 🙏
