IHSH-426-KHA - 12oz Military Moleskin Western Shirt - Khaki
-
This one is definitely on my list

-
must have

will look epic when faded -
@Mister_Brue you're thinking what I'm thinking.
-
hmm wonder if this would be to thick to tuck in
-
@TuckedInShirt I wouldn't think so? 12oz is substantial but I'd see it tucked without much issue. May need a thinner tee or no tee under.
Lets ask the expert @AdamJ -
@CosmoSix5 @TuckedInShirt you could tuck this in but as you say, it's quite thick so might not sit/drape very nicely

Is the price correct on these? It appears to be the same as the whipcord CPO’s
Hard for me to bite at this price as I'd want the snaps upgraded too. Must be something to do with the fabric costing more? I imagined this being around $385-$405. Great looking though so who knows

@CosmoSix5
Which option would you choose to upgrade the snaps? -
@dlrarmy the copper has been my go to. Talked to a guy here in the states who will be offering snap upgrades, wondering if he'll have any other options.

That is, generally speaking, how it works (eg 14oz denim vs 25oz denim)
Moleskin is typically quite expensive -
@Alex all those poor moles.....

-
I am also on the fence on this one with copper snaps or just getting the 20oz duck jacket
-
@Alex I’m curious to know what makes it military moleskin, as opposed to regular moleskin?

@ShopatIronHeart Is this just due to the colour? Thanks.

@Mister_Brue No, don't think so. We asked Japan about the distinction between the two, just waiting to hear back!
@SamD was doing some digging. The results are as you'd expect, a denser, coarser fabric more suitable to withstanding abrasion. The sort of thing you'd expect with military. We were waiting to hear back from Japan with concrete info though. I will update you if we get further info.
For comparison though, the IHSH-216 was a lot softer than this, with a smoother hand feel and visible sheen to it. Perhaps they felt it warranted a distinct naming difference to tell the two apart.

@Mister_Brue I found this on the googles
“Essentially, the term "military moleskin" refers to a specific, thinner application of the fabric for blister prevention, while "moleskin" broadly describes the sturdy, brushed cotton textile used for garments.”
But could be a different interpretation in Japan.

@Mister_Brue @ZackB Sorry it’s taken a while, but I finally have some clarification from Japan…
The 12oz moleskin is based on an old European military fabric (similar to German army moleskin), woven thicker than our previous versions. Those fabrics were also heavily brushed to create a very soft hand, whereas this weave is only lightly brushed to retain stiffness. Finally, Haraki san has intentionally opted to use sulphur-dyed yarns this time around, allowing for easy fading to achieve a vintage military aesthetic.
Hope that clears things up a little!

I think it will be a killer shirt in any case. Well done for digging.
