@pechelman aside from the length it fits good man, only thing I would’ve liked to see shrink a tad bit more is the shoulders and sleeves.
I’m honestly not going to hand wash/agitate it, I literally got a gnarly blister on my finger doing it the first time. I actually do wash with Dr. Bronners so that’s going to be the next step. Later today I’ll be going to my brothers house to finish this process up, I’ll update the thread here when it’s dried and I can try on again. If I had a tad bit more shrinkage on the areas I mentioned above, this will be perfect.

@worn2fade Man!! Lefty looks great on you after pre-soak.

@worn2fade looks great man!!

Thanks a lot guys. I just threw it in the wash today so will update with pics tomorrow of post wash!

@worn2fade My top-loader has a center-agitator and I've never had any issues washing my denim. I washed my Lefty, every pair of IH jeans I've ever owned, and every denim shirt, and I've never had any problems. I just turn everything inside out and let it rip. And my washer likes to lock its lid mid-cycle, so I couldn't even open it up and retrieve my stuff early if I wanted to.

@seawolf This is good to know man, thanks a lot. I thought because the agitator did its thing it can potentially cause weird streaks in the denim. What do you do exactly? Delicates & no spin?

Alright guys so I went ahead and did a wash yesterday. Can’t lie, one of the worst experiences ever lol. I thought my brothers washer was solid but it caused a mess. Basically I soaked the jacket for approximately an hour, filled up the washer machine with water (his was broken so we were able to fill it up then pop the lid open so it can go directly into the soapy water,) placed the jacket in there, put it on delicates and let it rip. His washing machine was older so there was no “no spin option,” - he assured me he can always hear it spin so we can just stop it early.
What ended up happening? Since it was in a ‘delicate’ setting, he didn’t hear when it started spinning. I was nervous as hell. We periodically checked on it so I know for sure it wasn’t spinning more than around 5 minutes so I just prayed nothing crazy happened to the jacket.
After we pulled out the jacket there was an insane amount of dried soap on it. I’m not sure why this happened but it didn’t get the proper wash it was supposed to.
We ended up taking the jacket outside and hosed this thing down so all the excess soap can come off.
Even though this was a huge PITA, some extra shrinkage did take place that I’m grateful for so s/o @Mizmazzle for the extra push.

@worn2fade my washing machine is pretty bare-bones (the perils of having cheap landlords) as far as features and options, so I can choose “delicate cycle” but there’s no choice but to endure a spin cycle. I’ve never experienced any streaking, but of course YMMV.

Incredible documentation and thanks for bringing us along. Your jacket looks great on you @worn2fade

@pechelman I appreciate the kind words man! Hope it helps out others in the future since this jacket can be extremely tricky.

@worn2fade Thanks for the intense story, that was fun to read. Even if the washing experience was nerve-racking, looking at the pictures you nailed the post wash fit!

@worn2fade jacket looks perfect. Well done buddy. Let the fading begin!

@worn2fade nice work man! The denim science experiment is one of my favorite parts of this hobby. I’ve got notebooks with almost all my shrink data. A dedicated Notes folder in my phone (thx @SKT ) to document all my pants, jackets, shirts etc with fade progress, start dates, washes etc.
