The Evolution of Iron Heart
-
After reading through a brief discussion on how the superblack non-fade denim will react to UV light, I decided it was experiment time. Throughout the summer, I have had my SB T3 Vest baking in the hot West Virginian sun on my roof.
As you can see, the black has been sun bleached to a golden brown/gray color. These photos here are to show the progression and degradation of the black dye. I think this is pretty cool, as I have always loved to experiment.
Below, you can see how dramatic the difference is where the chest pocket flaps have created "tanlines" on the surface of the denim. Isn't that wild? I was surprised when I first peeked under them. You can also see how the vest was not buttoned up, and inside the weft has also created a tan line.
So far, I have only sun baked the front and will flip it when it seems to have hit a sweet spot. What this looks like, I do not quite know yet. I will make another update later this year.
Here is the backside, although the sunny photos do wash out the darkness a tad.
Lastly, we have a before photo of the vest laid out on my deck earlier in the summer.
