My backpacking tent is two person. We won’t be doing any serious backpacking with Hattie and so I wanted a 3 season front country tent that would work for the whole family including the dog. This one has a huge center vestibule and distinct 2 person tents for privacy. Each of these has gear storage under the outside rain fly, and the center vestibule affords more storage still. Mom and dad in one, kid and the dog in the other, or kid and a friend, or another couple, etc. the center vestibule can be a mud room, storage for bikes, etc. you can stake each side’s vestibule door up as an awning or roll them as pictured here when they don’t need to be shut.

It packs into a backpack and weighs about 20lbs, so really more for bike packing, car camping, and shorter expeditions.

The solo pitch, strike and rain test went very well.

Big Agnes remains my favorite tent company. Highly recommended if you’re in the market.

@mclaincausey that thing is awesome and I’m with you…love Big Agnes tents. I have a 2-person of theirs that I use for solo trips and it’s fantastic. They’re thoughtful in their design and use great materials. Need an update when you hit the trail with it. And if your family is anything like ours, you’ll be the one stuck on the side with the dog.

Edit. My 2 person is a Fly Creek

@SKT 🤣 I love that they do more clipping and less sliding of poles through sleeves. They kick ass. Will update for sure!

@endo asked me, if I had done the GR221 route on the island of Mallorca (Spain).
Done stage seven and eight in spring years ago and it was beautiful looking down from around 1000m directly to sea level.

At this time of the year we prefer half day hikes.

Great hike, even when the temperatures are high.

I used to love big Agnes tents but then I had a pole break and they basically told me to fix it myself. Nemo is my favorite brand now.

Me and my boys (15 and 21 yo) had a great mountain tour and summited Germany‘s highest peak (Zugspitze, 2962 m or 9718 ft) for the third time, each time over a different route.

This time we had a pretty steep ascent to Wiener Neustädter Hütte (2209 m) and the next morning via the Stopselzieher, an easy but beautiful via ferrata, to the summit.

It was a great joy, especially for me as a father to see how strong and sure-footed my boys have gotten.
