@Twistlock I'm just trying to gauge what people typically do when they go from the 21 to XHS. The reviews are split between sizing up and sizing down...

@DirtyMike619 XHS is stretchable, but you have to work for it. I sized down on a pair and now they fit perfectly. The process though left bruises on my hips. You can size true to size or size up if you’re not willing to put the time in. They will look good either way you decide.

@DirtyMike619 , ok and understood. What i did for my XHS (634 cut though): I measured my 634 21 oz, which fit great, the IH way and compared those measurements with the published XHS ones, taking into consideration that XHS will shrink some after wash but stretch with wear again, so took published measurements as the target post wash/wear. Ended up choosing same tag size as with the 21oz and i like how they fit.

The long wait is over! Finally getting my hands on some XHS!
Between these and the lefty trucker, I am done for a while until my wallet recovers. Here's to hoping it's at least a few months before the Pale Rider comes back in stock

Kind of disillusioned that it's a wait of upwards of 360 days because I was 180 seconds late

Multiple retailers have plenty in stock in size 38 including self edge , mild blend and rivet and hide. No need to be " disillusioned ".

How are these supposed to fit pre soak? I tried some on and they fit well. They were a pretty slim fit everywhere and what I would like. I tried the next size up and they were roomy. If these stretch back out to the pre soak fit I would not want to go with the larger size. However the size that fits well once soaked would be a pretty tight squeeze. In that case would a cold soak be advised or just wait for a restock and try to get measurements that are slightly bigger?

@jpvisual. They will stretch back to pre soak size. Amd yes cold soak will minimize the shrinkage

You are welcome. The only thing you will not get back in any shrinkage in the inseam. So if you are planning to hem just hem an inch linger and that will get you covered

@yannis ok great. Does the XHS denim stretch out a little more from the pre-soak fit & measurements if put under stress (waist / top block, thighs). Like I said pre soak fit it just about perfect. They do slightly ride up my butt though so hoping this will go away. Thanks!

@jpvisual the stretch is greater than the shrinkage so the will be a net increase in measurements after the soak and the wear.
Be aware that while a cold soak will minimise shrinkage, the potential for shrinkage remains in the fabric. So a wash at 30C down the line may mean they shrink some more.
There is a good argument for a hot soak straight away to get all the shrinkage out. Then you’ll have a day or two of discomfort while they stretch out. After that you’ll be golden.

@neph93 ok this is good to know thanks! I was thinking of doing cold first just to see how much I get. A little concerned about shrinking too much with a 30c soak/wash, but sounds like it's necessary? I never soak or wash anything over 30c anyway.

Just ordered a tag 34 from Rivet and Hide. Thanks to Graham for sizing advice, and to folks on here who've posted info. So with 888 21s, 888 21 SBGs and a pair of beat up 555 21s, I'm good to go. I hope the step up from 21oz to 25 isn't a bridge too far for me
