IHV-51-BRN - 12oz Duck N1 Deck Vest - Brown
Our N1 vest is based on the classic deck jacket of the same name, as issued to US Navy servicemen during the 1940s. This version is constructed from tough 12oz Japanese duck canvas and lined with acrylic boa fleece, chosen in place of a wool lining because it allows for washing without shrinkage. Finished in a rich combination of brown and charcoal, this fabric stands apart from others in the lineup, thanks to an intricate dyeing process. First, the woven fabric is top-dyed a rustic brown using a direct dye technique. Next, it’s lightly overdyed to impart a black hue, then immediately washed to disperse and diminish the intensity of the black dye. The result is a beautifully aged, charred effect that evokes the rugged charm of a hard-worn vintage garment—perfectly suited to the heritage styling of our N1 vest.

This is a very intriguing fabric, definitely a stand out piece for F/W '25

Very exciting fabric !!!

My favorite piece of the collection!

I love this brown-quickly-overdyed color! If the lining were wool it would be a must have for me. I just have a hard time with synthetic material in clothing...
-
I want pants and shorts in this fabric too
-
@sophisto000 man, shorts would be killer!

This brown cloth is stunning, is there any thought in using it in other products, such as a type 3 or a vest without the warm collar? Between this vest and the chocolate flannel, you guys nailed it!
-
@jimcord yeah, i think we will look at that for future collections. A lot of the retailer love Adam mentioned yday was for the fabric rather than the overall item (sorry to debunk @ARNC 's theory) as they often struggle with N1 Vests. Let's see how FW25 goes, and you may see a return in a future season

Just curious on your thoughts, the faux collar was chosen, so it could be easily laundered, but do you think that it being synthetic that will hold the product back from success? Do you think a different material choice would make a difference in peoples minds and if so, could it be changed in time?

@Alex Curious what people’s issues are with synthetic fabrics?
-
@Alex surely everyone that works out, runs etc has polyester clothing, all of the puffa coats you see around are synthetic. So many synthetic items out there chances are those that feel “strongly” about them will have at least one piece at home.

Funny enough, this is what brought me to IH. Last year I decided to get rid of all synthetic from my closet. I donated every item I had with any % of polyester on the tag. Even my underwear and workout gear is now 100% natural.
This was all motivated by a shift in mentality to take the best care of my body that I could. Not wearing plastic against my skin was part of that. I also changed my diet at the time and have lost 40 lbs!
Along with the fabric choices, I decided to omit all fast-fashion items and only buy clothes from makers that took pride in what they were producing. That is how I found Iron Heart.
