IH-526J-142OD - 14oz Selvedge Denim Modified Type III - Overdyed Indigo
-
@CosmoSix5 I am still pondering this one vs the OD lefty. I have the indigo lefty, and despite the softening effect of the OD process I assume the OD lefty is still a completely different beast to the 14oz. The rational choice for comfort and summer wearability would be the 14oz...

@goosehd This. My 14oz 777s were unwearable new compared with the 21oz 888. Nothing to do with fit. And I never got on with the toughness of the 14oz. Never wear them. This, however, is a different matter. Is it the same denim before the OD?

@Tobi this is my best fitting IH jacket to date. I love it.

@CosmoSix5
Looks great man! -

Yes. Basically, we just OD the indigo version of anything overdyed.

How has sizing been in these? I’m getting very mixed signals. Going by IH, Dant, Iron Shop, I would have a smidge of layering room in an XL. Other shops have theirs measured in a way that an XXL may be too tight.
You need to check how they measure when trying to compare, you can not assume that you are comparing apples with apples.....

@CosmoSix5 the denim is a beauty isn’t it, really glad you love it and nailed the fit!
-
@CosmoSix5 Best choice you could make! This jacket is perfectly weighted and becomes super soft within no time. Also the different shades of black and blue depending on the light are amazing. Well, the fading is tough as nails but if you commit to it it looks perfectly with a bit of wear!

Just want to confirm before I buy one of these, is the recentish restock still sulphur dyed? Or was it switched to the new eco-friendly dye? Since it was a restock, I figure there’s a chance the switch could have been made without product pages being updated. I’m keen on getting the sulphur patina one last time if it is the old method.
(I have a couple of the new method OD now and they are great, but I had one of the old OD that I had to give up and I’d love to have an example of that too.)

@Freeman Yeah, I only wanted to confirm because other OD products earlier this year (like the 1955S OD) made the switch to the non-sulphur process. The 14oz restock seems to have been right around the switch, and I could see a world where a change was made without anyone remembering the product pages needed to be updated. Especially if it's the guys in Japan doing the OD (not sure where it happens) because they've definitely been known to switch things up without telling the UK guys.
