@Tago-Mago How is the tinnitus this morning?
-
Anyway, Maiden are playing songs off their first 8 records, so up to and including Fear of the Dark. Essentially, it's a Greatest Hits show. My personal favourite album is Powerslave, they played Aces High, 2 Minutes to Midnight, Powerslave and Rime of the Ancient Mariner, my favourite song is Wasted Years, which they played as closer. so that makes me very happy. Some great visual effects, sound was pretty good for a massive open air show, and they played 130 minutes. Halestorm opened, in case anyone was wondering. That's all I can say about them.

@Tago-Mago playing for over two hours at that age is insane. We saw the cure a couple of years ago and they played for literally 3-4 hours. Sounds like it was a great setlist!!
-
@Tago-Mago I’m a fan of Halestorm,especially the drummer. We’re they well received?

Any other Sean McConnell fans around here? Caught him at The Kessler tonight in Dallas.

Last month, I saw Jason Isbell twice a week apart in Vancouver, B.C. and Portland, OR. An incredible artist - quite possibly the best songwriter of his generation, and an unbelievable guitar player. He's my favourite artist, so it was a pretty good week. Very jealous of @Mizmazzle seeing Sturgill recently. Can't wait until the opportunity arises for me.

@americanathreads big Isbell fan here and I’ve been digging his new album. Wondering did he play a lot of “Foxes in the Snow”? And if so, were they just acoustic? Would love to catch him next time he’s close

Got to finally see one of my favourite bands, The Used at Slam Dunk Fest '25. Had multiple plans to see them over the years but the band has pulled out every time, so was very glad they finally made it!
Also another band we saw.. Electric Callboy. A new guilty pleasure, they put on THE best show.
-
@Bailey Nice! My buddy and I made fake All Access passes and used them to sneak into a The Used concert many years ago. After the show, we figured why not try to get back stage, and we succeeded! We wound up having beers with The Used and 30 Seconds to Mars. Then, right in the middle of chatting with everyone, their tour manager spotted our passes and had security escort us out; right in front of everyone. One of the funnest, most embarrassing, yet most proud moments of my youth.

@SKT Alright! Yeah he did play a bunch of FITS songs. I was really excited to hear them live and see how different they’d be. He played them in full band arrangements, some of them sounded quite different but in a great way. Particularly Bury Me, True Believer, and Crimson & Clay (which he played on electric). Also got to hear Live Oak and Children of Children which I’ve been waiting a long time for.

@americanathreads oh man I bet that was fantastic. Took me a while to give FITS proper attention. I’ve followed his career and personal life and wasn’t quite ready to dive into the divorce and the intensity of that collection of songs (I love Amanda Shires too). Now I’ve listened to it a ton over the last few weeks and I think the acoustic version of Isbell is my favorite version of him. Intimate, raw and powerful. Hope I get to catch him soon, thanks for posting about the show

@SKT yeah it was fantastic - both shows. Me too - it was sad to see how things ended. They both put a lot of it out there on their last record or two each. FITS is a very strong album, I don’t think it’s up to Southeastern or Weathervanes, but agreed it’s a treat to get a full album in that raw, acoustic form. Hope you can too!
