IH-526Lod - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo Overdyed Black
-
I was chatting with the lady who embroidered the mechanics shirt for me. About putting IRON HEART on the back of my next jacket. Anyone have ideas to share via pics?

@tody I was just reading in one of the self edge posts that all 17oz and up is the new direct OD method and lower weight is still sulfur OD method, but I know it's not certain this Lefty OD is the new or old method. If it is the old method I will buy the lefty OD. If it's the new method I will probably pass.
if one is the old school OD it will fly immediately.

I don't really understand although I did read Graham's comments previously.
What difference does the method of OD dying actually make to the Jacket in the long term !?

Any updates as to the ETA on this piece? Trying to decide if I should wait for this or pull the trigger on the SelfEdge collab next week.
Thank you️

Cheers. Thanks for that.
Certainly my 2 year old 14 OZ OD Type 3 has faded nicely with really light Indigo coming through on the arm crease sets in particular. ( likely the older type then).
Will post photos when next home. In the Alps at the momewnt with my Work.

@DeeDee85 yeah I think you’ve hit on that correctly. Also the environmental impact is much worse with the older method so you get the good feelies with the new method in that regard.
There's probably a very expensive way to mitigate the environmental impact while not changing the actual process. I read that Horween leather was going to basically be forced out of business(by changing their famous tanning process) but they got around the government demand by installing their very own water treatment plant. Probably a tough sell for the amount of things Works OD's. Would take a long time to recoup the $1 million+

Exact same question I was wondering. I have this jacket in the non OD version and I love it. I want an OD version to contrast my jeans a little. The self edge version looks cool but I think id prefer the OG.
I was also interested in the 21oz type 3 dropping today but I think having that and the 19oz type 3 would be a little redundant.
-
This is my next appointment. The SE will really have to blow me away.
-
@Johnnyutah247 , get the 21 oz type III.
It's an OG classic.
-
If the fit is yours (long and slim) then this is one of IH greatest pieces.
-
I've got my fingers crossed for this one. If it doesn't work out no biggie though.
-
Any chance these are coming in the next 30 days? Have a trip coming and it's probably going to be cold
-
@Galena418 Unsure yet, sorry. They are due soon, that's the best I can do!
-
@AdamJ same thing is probably true for other heavy hitters like the vintage CPO, right?
-
@RobeOfTheMagi Yep, as soon as we get the nod from Japan that they are ready for us to bring over to IHUK, I will sound the alarm

This was the first type 3 i think i wanted but the timing and available stock didnt work out so I ended up with a 14IB instead, that I love. Then all of the fading pictures of the indigo Lefty made me jump on that during one of the last restocks. Wondering if this will be the time or if maybe I should consider the 21OD instead.
At the expense of asking what has already been answered in one of the many huge threads about this OD fabric, how does it compare in terms of softness? I've got a couple things in the 21OD to compare as well as 25MB and 18OD as well as their regular indigo variants to help with comparisons.
Is it really as simple as 21:21OD :: 18:18OD :: 19L:19LOD?
