Found this little guy a sleep.
My twin looked him up. He is a male Eastern Red Bat, Lasiurus borealis

Woah that is so cool! I had no idea there was a red bat in the US. Google says they live all up and down the eastern states and all the way to Texas as well.

This morning’s view out of my kitchen window. Not actually “In the wild”. But close enough.
-
Fantastic shot @SFMCfranky!
What kind of birds are they and where do you live?
-
Howdy,
They’re Turkey Vultures. I live in Northern California. They’re very common here. -

Sounds like a gothic Christmas dinner

the ravens are larger than the crows but not as big as the bald eagles around there and in surrounding states. The black vultures, however, look more similar to ravens and crows and are smaller than the turkey vultures.

Spent a few days in the Derbyshire Dales last week…

On my back door tonight.

@SFMCfranky phenomenal shot of the humming bird. Does it have an orange breast or is that a trick of the lighting? We only get one species of humming birds here in WV, the Ruby Throated.
-
Thanks!
It really is that color. It’s a male Rufous Hummingbird. I tried to post a short video of him. But it was too dense to post here. They show up NorCal in the spring and fall as they migrate North and South. We do have a year round resident: Anna’s Hummingbirds. I’ll try and post some pictures of them. The Rufous are smaller, but very feisty. -
@SFMCfranky The one's I've been posting are Anna's, but I've seeing Ruby-throated hummingbirds in San Diego in past years.
