When we were traveling we stayed at a place in TX where a cardinal took particular issue with his reflection in our truck’spassenger side mirror. It got so bad I had to put a bag over the mirror to keep him from trying to kill himself.

@seawolf wow, those shots are incredible. It is so hard to get close enough to humming birds to get a decent shot. This reminds me, I need to clean and switch out my feeders.

My twin looked him up. He is a male Eastern Red Bat, Lasiurus borealis

Woah that is so cool! I had no idea there was a red bat in the US. Google says they live all up and down the eastern states and all the way to Texas as well.

They’re Turkey Vultures. I live in Northern California. They’re very common here.

Got them in North Carolina as well. I think I told @Giles it was a crow when I saw one flying.

the ravens are larger than the crows but not as big as the bald eagles around there and in surrounding states. The black vultures, however, look more similar to ravens and crows and are smaller than the turkey vultures.

It really is that color. It’s a male Rufous Hummingbird. I tried to post a short video of him. But it was too dense to post here. They show up NorCal in the spring and fall as they migrate North and South. We do have a year round resident: Anna’s Hummingbirds. I’ll try and post some pictures of them. The Rufous are smaller, but very feisty.
