@jerkules haha...I'm gonna field test this thing first, make sure it doesn't disintegrate after using it a few times. After that, anyone looking for cheap leather goods made on a steep learning curve feel free to hit me up haha.

Kind of like going to the local dental college for cheap dental work done by students!

Thanks @ZackB I learned a lot on that first go round that should make my next build that much cleaner!

@Mizmazzle One of the best parts about learning leathercraft is getting to make stuff for yourself to field test. You can make a new wallet every week and it'll only cost you a couple of bucks and a few hours of your time. It's fun and you get new gear whenever you feel like it.

@seawolf I had one close call where I left it at airport security years ago. Luckily was able to retrieve later from airport security. This was at the Minneapolis airport so at least a decade ago since it was before I moved.

It has zero signs of giving up the ghost anytime soon.

I decided to condition it today but will post an evo pic when it’s dry.

                Think it, be it.

One of my prized possessions. Thanks @seawolf and Iron Heart (for this buckle). Zach’s original buckle is an excellent brass roller buckle I use for more formal occasions.

Do you recall what type of leather was used on this belt?

@Mizmazzle the original post in this thread has it—it was a natural leather and you can see what it looked like when he made it. It has a very tight grain and is quite hefty. Definitely a terrific leather.

And you’re right about the stability. The materials and construction have kept the belt in amazing shape. I’ve worn it just about every day since I got it. Only exceptions are when I’m matching black boots or wearing lounge or technical stuff. This thing should be shaped like a rainbow after what it’s been through. Looks like it’s been around 12 years now.

@seawolf what I’m curious about, is if McLain has had his saddle stitched belt for 13 years, how long have you had yours in that picture for?

@Mizmazzle I think I made that one about 8 or 9 years ago. It's Horween English Tan leather stitched together with Olive. Normally that leather is too thin
(relatively) to be made into a belt, but doubling it up and stitching makes a MEAN belt.

And for those following along at home, @mclaincausey 's belt is the first leather item I was ever commissioned to make, so it's extra special! The original linen thread degraded so badly that he sent it back to me for an overhaul and I restitched it with polyester thread.
