@Denimhead-0 that windbreaker jacket looks a million dollars on the bike! Perfect choice for a January 1st ride.

      The journey is the objective.

@WhiskeySandwich nice! Yeah, we had 30mph winds at the shore, I dealt with it since it was warmer weather. Be safe out there 🤘

Looking for some motorcycle advice, figured I might as well ask on here!

I sold my bikes (vintage Hondas) when I moved from the west coast to NYC a decade ago. Finally in a situation to have one again, and I'm starting to look around. My whole family rides Harleys, so I grew up around them, but I'm only now really looking at one for myself. Does anyone have any thoughts about what Harley might be best in a big city like NYC? I'll have access to indoor parking. Ideally I want something that I could take on long rides/trips out of the city, so that sort of crosses a Sportster off my list, even though that seems ideal for city riding. Been looking mainly at the Softail standard and a Heritage (would be buying used.)

@selbstzweck By the time I was riding,I no longer lived in NYC,and only rode into the city on a few occasions, over the 25 years that I was riding. My last bike was a Heritage, and I can’t say enough good things about them as far as having the versatility for being a good around town bike and a great get out of town bike. They’re comfortable enough that a 350 mile day is doable. If you have more questions fire away.IMG_0798.jpeg IMG_0801.jpeg

@Jett129 Awesome, thank you. I was leaning Heritage because of what seemed like its versatility, so this is great to hear. I'm more into the aesthetics of the Softail, but I think practicality needs to win out here...

Triumph Bonneville’s are great city bikes but not so much for long country rides. Love my Road King, a little on the big side for NYC.

@selbstzweck I did have a test ride on the softail streetbob when i was shopping for my bike. I found it to be pretty nippy round the city (and i'd wager our cities are if anything a little tighter than NYC), was planted, stable at low speed and had a good turn-in (probably better than the scout i ended up with) and certainly had decent legs out of the city - as its effectively the same bike as the softail standard that might work out a good sweet spot for you.

@selbstzweck Sportster is fine for long trips, imo. Depends on your size really. Under 6' and no probs. I've done 2k mile/ 3 day moto-camp trips and love em for that.
