@mclaincausey For sure. I don't wear things that are clearly dirty, and I have a pretty liberal washing philosophy. I'm not sleeping in my front yard.

@Mister_Brue Honestly, this is the main reason for doing it. At best, I suspect the actual fades are negligible. I think it does contribute to molding the denim to your body. I move a lot during my sleep. Sprawl my arms out. I think it helps in setting crease in the shoulders and sleeves.

@Jcaz6996 You're probably right. I think it helps set creases in the shoulders and torso. Afterwards, it wears more naturally to me, but it might be a placebo effect.

I could see a leather garment responding to it, though, The sheets brushing the leather, the heat activating the oils in the leather.

@seawolf Vanity to some degree. A jacket is the first part of an outfit people notice. Imo, it's the core of a silhouette. They're the most flexible part of wardrobe. Shifting seamlessly between styles and outfits.

I found that whatever I try to fade, if it’s like every other day wear, i reach my happy spot after like 6 months. The trick is have a small rotation. 6 months hot, 6 months cold for the heavier ones. Shirts take forever for me cuz I wear them once a week. Wash minimally. Only time I sleep in denim is camping. I think most of my fades come from just being active as fuck.

@jerkules OD lefty sleep is cosy, who needs a weighted blanket!

This thread inspired me to sleep in my 33 and 21oz jeans last night. Possibly a coincidence, but it was the first time I've slept all the way through through the night since returning from holiday six days ago.

Sleeping in denim is the cure to jet lag, apparently...

I tried to sleep in my 62 a couple times after I read that @Oaktavia did it with his wabash cpo because I can't wear anything else than my jeans to work because we have to wear the company shirts and jackets... So I only get to fade bottoms and boots but for shirts and jackets it's only while commuting or after work hours which is sometimes a little frustrating... Like realizing there are so many limited releases I want to have but the one I got a year ago looks almost new 🤣

As an aside, I keep wondering which April 1st the IHUK team is going to announce 5oz cotton/linen indigo dyed PJs

I find comfort in the uncomfortable.

Yes BUT I reserve jackets for when she is away on work trips (1-2 weeks a year).

I've used this exactly phrasing when trying to explain to a friend why I don't wanna borrow a pair of his sweatpants when I'm chilling at his place on a winter evening and he cannot fathom why I'd want be wearing jeans... 😂

I get that. I really do.

For me though, I've think I've had a little too much discomfort in my lifetime (the best example of this is serving on a submarine for 3-1/2 years), and I'm okay with some discomfort during the day, but at night, it's my time to find the most peace and to let my body recover.

This is my worst nightmare 😂 The first jacket that comes to mind when I think about being miserable in bed is my Lefty. Some of the high-wear areas are really soft, but the rest of the jacket is still quite crunchy. No thank you!
