IHJ-129-BRN - Japanese Horsehide Riders Jacket - Brown
-
@T4920 it’s directly opposite Liverpool Street and you might need to wait to get in (it was full at 2:30 this morning). Once in, the next challenge is working out if your head feels like it’s the end of one day or the start of the next - when I was eating breakfast other people were having burgers or fish and chips!
Steering back to the official subject, the horse got some positive attention from the guys on the next table - no idea if they’ll get into IH but they immediately recognised the horse is a jacket for life!

@Tago-Mago I think the Outlet is calling you

@Tago-Mago said in IHJ-129-BRN - Japanese Horsehide Riders Jacket - Brown:
I'm not listening
Obviously not

Go for it Carsten

As caretaker of the Outlet I can say this was absolutely a targeted move with @Tago-Mago in mind
-
@Tago-Mago you'll be crying about that sooner or later

i was also surprised to see this in the outlet. Def one of the best looking jackets ever.

Hey there @flannel-slut … I’ve read and re-read this thread many times. You have certainly “dialed-in” the fit. Looks perfect!
I was just wondering, after six months do you still feel you’ve made the right decision? Have you ever felt you wished it was roomier? Im about to hit the button on something similar (I’m probably between sizes too) and can’t decide which way to fall!? If I knew it could look as good as yours does on you, Id have done it already. But I worry that the lack of layering options would mean I don’t wear it.
Funny, I never used to worry about any of this before I got addicted to IH, and now I go everywhere with a tape measure! -
@NorvilleRogers I'll jump on that question, as I - once again - pondered over this question today. It's the nature of a rider's jacket, and I'm good with that.
Both this one and my old vanson comet fit similar, and while I can do both up, I feel a little restricted when fully zipped. It was particularly windy this evening at the beach, and while it was hard to do, I could fully zip the 129 fully over a UHF and a hoodie.
But then again, I mostly wear this jacket unzipped. And when I look at the perfect sleeve length, I know I got the right size. -
@NorvilleRogers thanks man. Your SB looks spot on and would def use those measurements as a base guide for yourself. I waffled on sizing myself partly because I’ve never owned a thick horsehide jacket to compare against and the other because I was trying to get away with layering while still keeping it smart enough to pull off w a tee. Zero regrets with how I sized, especially now w it broken in some. I can get away with a western (jacket sleeves need to be unzipped open as mobility with a snap shirt is tight for me here) and LOVE rocking w just a tee shirt or long sleeve tee.

Just my two cents… I think that this leather jacket is a ‘rest of my life’ sort of piece. I think @Giles had said once that the biggest style mistake he made in his younger years was underestimating how his body would change (for the larger) over time. And that sense, I would probably size up, unless you are fairly confident that your body won’t change too much in the next couple of decades. The horsehide tends to crease and tighten up in areas that you bend, but will not stretch out to accommodate a larger size. And for what it’s worth, it seems that 80% of resellers of leather jackets usually do it because they purchased too small, and the rest because it’s too big.

Thanks for the advice @tody
There’s always so many things to look out for… perfect sleeve length, not too long at the back, not too restrictive but still flattering. Sometimes it all goes round and round in my head until Im dizzy. I think I have to be honest with myself and not expect N1 level comfort in a heavy horsehide riders jacket.
