Working my ass off in Texel. We had left instructions for the old hedge surrounding the property to be removed, and a new fence to be set up. Except that they left out one of the rear corners, for no real reason. Except for being lazy maybe, because it is difficult to get to. It's astonishing to see the language barrier between Dutch and German returning when you start to complain.
I have now all of the old hedge removed, but now I have to buy the missing pieces for the fence. Proves to be difficult on an island, with shipping rates from the mainland being astronomically high.
Currently looking into renting a small truck on tuesday, and pick it up myself.I think I could bring up a thousand language barrier discussions being married to a South American. Not complaining just saying.
I always thought that this language barrier thing towards your significant other was something that comes naturally, regardless of language.

Random rant: If you can't control your dogs don't have dogs! I got attacked by two pit bulls tonight and I thought my dog was going to die in the street, but I got on top of him and shielded him with my body and my trusty N1 Deck Vest (thanks Iron Heart)! No but legitimately used the vest to stop them from biting my dog. Rant over! Don't be a bad dog owner.

@Mizmazzle the county took their dogs. They’re paying for my medical bills. So at least there is that. Haven’t decided if I’ll take any other action. Once I got inside I asked my wife if my pants were okay.

@GardenState what a horrifying experience. Did your pup sustain any injuries? How bad were you hurt?

@Mizmazzle my dog thankfully did not sustain any injuries. I got bit a couple times and took a head to the face that split my lip. Worst bite was on my wrist. Could have been a lot worse. Vest and cargos are good. Maybe a little added patina from getting mildly mauled

@GardenState Geeze Louise that sucks man. You are 100% correct don't be a dog owner if you can't control your dogs. Fecking idiots. Glad you are (mostly) okay and your dog is too. What kind of dog do you have? I think I would have asked my wife the same about my pants had I been in a similar situation.

@GardenState sounds like a fucked scenario. But, if you’re like me, and obviously you are…I’d way rather take the pain myself then have my dogs attacked.
Probably hard to see at the moment. But there is a silver lining here.

Has anyone else noticed that spell check is getting much worse with spelling, autocorrections, and with suggested words. Over the past 5 to 6 months it's been driving me mad...I find that when I go back to texts, posts, etc. that it changed words without me catching it and say it's a little annoying to say the least.

@goosehd yes, yes, yes. And on a broader scope, the entirety of tech getting worse is called enshittification. It’s probably the thing that drives me the most nuts. Like, we have AI making pics of dogs skydiving but the basic stuff, like “search” is becoming unusable. I can rant on this for days…
