      Hello.
      I have this jacket.
How often do I need to redo the waterproofing ?

I think this is probably down to usage...

It says to use an iron but what kind of temperature ? Direct on the oiled fabric or using an fabric between ?
I would use a teatowl over the fabric, on a relatively low iron temperature

@Alex thank you very much ! Well noted for the tea towel !
I have noticed that water penetrates the fabric on mine ? Is it normal or should it forms drops and slide on the fabric (water repellent)

I bought mine in August and just start wearing it a few days ago and I was wondering if I should iron it to reactivate the oil on the fabric
        What do you think ?

Thank you again for your help.

@Alex just to clarify : I am new to waxed / oiled products. I have no idea on how to know when I should go ahead and do the Iron thing.
From your experience what are the signs to look for to see if it is ok or it is Iron time (change in colour or texture / change in how the water is absorbed or not) ?

I just want to take good care of the jacket.

          Thank you.

@Germinal I have had my oiled deck jacket for 2 years and I have not had to apply an iron yet. I have not noticed any difference in how the water is absorbed in that time (maybe someone who has worn theirs in harsher conditions regularly can shed more light on it), but I do not tend to wear mine in super heavy downpours often.

It would be cool if they made a hooded version of the oiled N1 someday. After all, the main purpose of the oil treatment is rain protection.

We did this a few years ago. Admittedly not oiled....

Sorry, probably not part of this thread entirely, but I managed to trap my N1 jacket in a door and broke a button, how can I get a replacement?

I have spare buttons at HQ, next time you order, or a friend orders, just drop us a note in the order field or send us an email letting us know what color deck jacket it is and if it is a placket or latch button and we will get you a couple,

Alternatively, if you would like them shipped straight up, it will be the standard sub $200 order shipping cost to your country.

                          🤘

@Graham Thanks, it’s the jacket that’s in this thread. Christmas spending dictates it may be a bit of time till my next purchase, but I’ll try then. Thank you.

@Gulliver try super-glueing that broken button in the meantime. As the aren’t typically subjected to great stresses, should hold up nicely. Bet it’ll also look cool.

                              The journey is the objective.

@motojobobo It took a bit of time to locate a missing part of the button that broke in to three, but thanks for the suggestion. When I get home (visiting family for Christmas) I may well give it a try.

@AdamJ Thanks for the answer, I was going to ask the same question as @americanathreads. If you pull it out, how easy would it be to thread back in at a later date?

@m4xime It's pretty simple to re-thread, we use a small metal tube (someone will give correct me with the actual name) to attach the whipcord and it makes it easier to hold whilst threading. I'll find a link to the tool we use

Just scored mine from @flannel-slut in the buy and sell. It’s so killer. Fits just right in terms of measurements - chest, length, sleeve length etc. Only thing is the elbows are a bit tight when I bend them. Will they break in and give a bit with wear?
