@seawolf I can’t blame anyone for not getting it. It’s a learned skill. It’s a social food. A decent crab picker can get 2 full crabcakes worth in 5 minutes if rushed. It’s not just a meal it’s a tradition. Lobster is an easy copout 🙂 when Marylanders have a crab feast, it’s an event.

Yeah I get that. Same thing with crawfish boils. It’s a cultural thing as much as it is a food thing.

I was thinking more along the lines of what would I order at a restaurant; purely thinking about the food and not the trappings or event.

@WhiskeySandwich I just don’t love getting my hands dirty when I eat. And I don’t love crab enough for it to be worthwhile. It seems like a great social thing, but it’s not my thing.

I definitely am mainstream on the wing thing, but if a sauce is good enough I’ll only dip every other bite. Has to be an exceptional dressing though.

You don’t order crabs at a restaurant. You order them at a crab house. 🙄

Once you know how to do it and with some practice, I can plow through a dozen in no time. Everyone does it just a little different but it’s a Maryland family tradition to pass down the ability to pick a crab clean while drinking cheap beer. Do not drink good beer with crabs. I passed it down to my kids just like my dad did for me.

@tody fairly deep - like craft beer a lot but also quite happy with standard lager. Sometimes I want a few beers at home and for it to not cost £20 lol

@jerkules then your opinion is unpopular indeed 😎 Can't see myself drinking heavy barrel aged stouts from a bottle, for example.

Some craft beer makers encourage drinking from the vessel they ship in. The Alchemist of Vermont comes to mind. They encourage you to drink the pint from the can.

Some beers I want the bouquet from a glass. I’ve found that yeah sure I can drink Heady Topper from a can, but sometimes I may feel like pouring it into an ale glass. Especially if it’s chilled.
