@Ju. The difference between the 21oz and 25oz is more than just weight. The 21oz is more breathable, softer of the bat and fades in a more vintage style vs the 25oz is less breathable, difficult to deal with in the first few wears, hard to button at times, but you get rewarded with sweatpants like softness when broken in and contrast fades. Obviously the 25oz is a better winter option in colder climates.

@GardenState nice man! Glad you’re happy with them. I agree with the more generous 555 description.

@yannis Thank you very much for the insight !

I started to look at the size charts.

On left there is the dimensions of a Naked and Famous jeans that i have (that fits well on me) and on the right the dimensions (in centimeters) of the 888 XHS tag 36 :

          Waist : 95 / 92,7

          Front Rise : 29,5 / 32,5

          Rear Rise : 39 / 43,7

          Thigh : 33 / 35,8

          Knee : 22,5 / 24,6

          Hem : 18 / 21,8

          Inseam : 87 / 92,7

Considering the incoming shrinkage with the pre soak or wash, tag 36 looks good for me right ?

@Ju, Do not worry about the shrinkage in the waist. It will stretch back to pre soak dimensions with wear. The N&F pais looks like a lower rise pair than the 888,s. So they will seat higher up, on your natural waist instead of the hips and usually our matural waist is narrower. The thigh will shrink about 0.5 of an inch roughly 1.2 cm and probably the same for the knee and hem width. The inseam may shrink up to an inch so about 2.5cm. For the most part tag 36 looks roomier than your N& F. Make sure you are ok with that. Is you really like how the N&F fits maybe look even tag 35. You have alot of room in the thigh to play with.

@Ju, also.look at the 777 cut tag 36. The measurements are alot closer to your N&F pair in most areas but waist. Also I assume that you used the Iron Heart measuring method otherwise non of all that means anything.

@yannis Yeah i used the Iron Heart measuring method.

You're right seems like the 777 looks more like what i'm looking for, sadly only the 21/23 is still avalaible in tag 36 so i guess i'll have to wait.

My first pair of Iron Hearts.

I almost went for the 555 XHS but I'm glad I didn't because I do not think it would have fit my thighs.
I think the 888 fit is pretty good for me.

I am tempted to get them hemmed 2 inches or so? Maybe even more. What do you guys think?

These are a size 33 and I have soaked these twice at 40c and washed them at 40c on a 45 min wash.

@RideTheLightning hemming is a matter of taste. I prefer cuffs and i think they look great. Be careful hemming tapered cuts though. You could lose the taper if you lose too much length.

@RideTheLightning personally I think your cuffs look great. Matt has a point in losing some of the taper if you have them hemmed. I own these and I wear them both cuffed and uncuffed depending on the footwear. One negative to having them cuffed is that XHS had a tendency to be very abrasive and develop wear and even holes on the folded edges.

Thanks, I think I may leave the cuff, at least for now. Are there any negatives of trying a cuff for a few months and potentially getting then hemmed at a later date? Or is it better to get them hemmed right away?

I think this Tokyo cuff might look a little better?

Tokyo cuff is how I do it and you’ll be fine waiting if you want. It’s actually better if your honeycombs set in before you take length off since that will take some off (a little) anyway.

I agree with what everybody suggested. Pretty much is a personal preference thing. I wouldn't worry about losing the taper if you decide to hem your 888's unless you are hemming really short like under 32 inches. I have not seen a noticeable difference. I have both hemmed and umhemmed. Now the heavy creasing and potential damage is very real if you decide to cuff. My suggestion is to uncuff them at night and try to wear them some times without a cuff, specially when you are around the house. It will help with the heavy creasing and potential tears.

@GardenState. No worries my man. I think the hem differences are negligible at least on the 888 cut. The taper from knee to hem is not that big. I personally like wider hems anyways.

Trying to decide if I dare to order a pair of the 888 because I'm a slim guy (185 cm, 70kg). I've had a few different 555 and 777 but think they become to slim in the thighs after a few washes. So I'm trying to decide if I should size up in the 555 or try the 888. Any suggestions?

You can size up if the waist is snug. If not you will end up with a loose top block and they will sag. You can get away sizing up easier on the 777's in my opinion. The low rise is more forgiving with a roomy or loose top block. I don't see what is the apprehension if you size the 888's correctly. It's a solid cut and you can ger away with sizing down on those. Find out what your ideal.measurement are and get a pair that is as close to possible to those measurements.

For anyone that has owned both the 142 and the XHS, how does sizing ultimately compare after soak/wear in? If my size 34 142 fits pretty good should I get that same size in XHS?
