Much derided when they were current

I'm of the younger generation who can appreciate their stuff

Was it general distate for glam back then or just Slade ?

Or maybe just Hills chompers and midevil page-boy hair?

@GraemeE I was a big fan of Slade's music and at the time was in a band that covered 2 of their songs. Their live shows involved ,in my opinion, way too much of being told to clap your hands ,stamp your feet etc. before they would play just about every song. When they eventually got around to playing a song they were actually quite good. The audience participation that worked so well for them at home just seemed to frustrate them, when it wasn't happening here. Saw them open for T-Rex,which was a great double bill. Fun fact...They were managed by former Animals bassist and Jimi Hendrix manager,Chas Chandler.

I'd have to pick Quiet Riot's version, but this was my first time hearing the version by Oasis, and I'd probably rate that one second because it made me think it kind of sounded like The Sex Pistols,if they had covered it.

My thoughts exactly. QR then Oasis. It’s a solid cover with some fun banter at the end.

First two records. If you really like them the third is fine. Masterplan is an excellent b-sides compilation. They have a lot of great b-sides.

                                      That is it.

But keep in mind the time had an awful lot to do with their appeal. I totally get why out of context they may not translate. Music, after all, is so much more than just the music.

I couldn’t agree with you more on that account. I have an album coming out,I think,in January that was recorded in 1982. The music is really relevant to that time period. I was really surprised when I heard that someone wanted to release it. I know it was remixed but not much else. Curious to see how it is received.

At that age quiet riot just seemed like "butt rock" for divorced dad's and ner-do-well uncles who drove transams
