I saw Rik during his standup tour in ‘92, and swear I have not laughed as much before or since. My stomach was truly aching with the laughter…true, true belly laughs. Definitely my comedy hero - can’t believe it’s 10 years since he died.

@Nocturama Now that is a night to remember! Very envious you got to see him. My older brother made it one of the Bottom live shows and said it was absolutely brilliant! I’m unsure of the year, maybe 95 or 96?

EDIT: Having never really known the origins of the above statement, I decided to research it a bit to make sure I was applying it properly...I always thought it was something a benevolent king had once said to his starving countrymen....I was not totally correct.

Apparently is was incorrectly attributed to something Marie Antoinette was believed to have said...but no record shows she did. Perhaps, history says, it was some sort of political jargon.
