technically f=ma, but the math still checks out with it being a huge mass moving and needing to transfer a very large amount of energy into the structure to stop its forward motion.

Which stacks up, a ship of that size and mass needs a shit load of speed to get any steerage at all (you need a large amount of water going past the rudder(s) ). The container ships and car transporters that come up The Solent can be on you in a horrifyingly short space of time....

Thanks everyone. We’ve been wanting to go back for a while and decided to go for it. I’ll likely find some work there to help us offset cost of pining but now that the kids are older and more independent I’ll have lots of time on my hands.
