Finally got my first engineer boot and I am blown away by the feeling wearing these. It's like the first high quality badass looking leather jacket, it's Just very special. Sizing wise I went with the same size I wear in my M43 and Iron Rangers, 9.5 us. On the left foot it's perfect with just a little bit of heelslip, the right foot is a little snug at the toebox but no heelslip at all. I think with regular wear the cxl will give a little and they will be comfortable all day boots. The getting on process was as frustrating as lots of you were reporting. Left foot little wiggle and I was in, right foot was a struggle until I finally used the only plastic I could find. I will now leave them on for the day around the house.

@Daniel-San thanks buddy! I already felt the slip on a lot easier the second time I tried it couple minutes ago.
Biggest problem now is that I need a leather jacket again

lucky me I never had problems to get them on. But it will get better for sure ! the cxl is not that hardcore and will break in pretty fast compared to the shinki leather which is tough to break in.
Around 60 days of wear and still not fully broken in …

@Daniel-San yeah I bet the HH ones are hardcore but hardcore awesome!! Must be great wearing these. But what I really like about the cxl ones is the stitching and sole with a different colour. Love the new shinki steel gang boots also... But i'd have a serious problem if they magically apear in my wardrobe..

@FlavourFade killer! I loved mine — I will say that taking them to a reputable shoe guy to get them stretched can help a bit. I'll also concede though that mine were just too small for me. Really could've used a 13 if JL made them, so I was really pressing my luck with a 12.

Before I consider having somebody work on them I just wear them as much as I can and look how the slip in changes. I think they already feel easier to get on after a day of wear.

S&S had a 20% off sale last week, had a pair avail in my size and was somehow not excluded from the sale. I tried to explain to my better half how I was left with no choice but she can't wrap her head around why I needed the same boot in a different colorway. When I looked, they still had a few smaller sizes in stock...

@goosehd the kind of brilliance I have come to expect around these parts! All I could repeat was, "just look at that Shinki!" somehow this did not help
