I'd say 21oz. or 17oz. but if he prefers a comfy denim right out off the box go 21oz. indigo and you both won't regret it and he will be very happy i guess

@Mizmazzle I know what you mean going in person to a retail location can be overwhelming. I like your idea of ordering multiple fits for him to try on. Best of luck I hope he falls in love with a pair.

@Mizmazzle I would say 21 oz is great to start... I came from 13 oz nudies before I ordered my first IH bottoms and the 21 oz did not feel that much more heavy than these and much softer

@Mizmazzle you could probably arrange a appointment with your store of choice (Berkeley Supply Co, the nearest?) and just go down with your mate. In my experience the shops that sell are IH are quite chill and not quite the same as the wedding suit fitting vibe!

I appreciate all the advice and help here. I've ordered a few cuts in the flagship 21oz indigo...Stay tuned for updates...though it will be a few weeks as I'm boarding a plane to mother fucking VIETNAM in two days!!!!

@Tago-Mago thanks for the positivity my good mod…er, my good man!!! I’m super stoked to give him the goods!! He’s been listening to me talk about denim for years and think it’s finally got him to the point that he’s curious about all the fuss. He was the best man at my wedding and even made some comments about my denim obsession in his speech haha. Seems fitting to bring this full circle for his wedding.

I’m following this closely now, thank you for posting and what a wonderful gesture.
I have a very close friend who has a similar interest in buying his first pair of “good jeans”. Of course I’m directing him toward the IH brand. I may take him shopping in Toronto at Dutil Denim sometime soon.

Howdy folks! The day has come!! We finally opened up Mizmazzle’s Front Room Denim Shop for Matt to go shopping for his favorite pair of Iron Hearts.
I collected four cuts in the 21oz flagship.
555, 666, 634, 888
After all my research, my gut was telling me the 555 or 888 would be the right fit for him. What cut do you think he went with??888

He was blown away by the quality!! I pulled out some of my jeans to show him how soft they would get and he was stoked at how mine felt. After trying on all the cuts he could feel the pair he chose getting softer already and loved the feel of the denim. Made me stoked to see him so pumped on his new jeans. I think we nailed the fit!!
So which cut do you think was the winner??
