@mclaincausey as a 38 year old former athlete. Trust me - work on your mobility now. It only gets worse lol. I do it every other day to balance out all the sitting for work. It has done miracles for my back and hips

@flannel-slut emoms are one of my favorite workout. A homegym is awesome! But I love the group trainings.

@iammortalcombat yes indeed mobility realy is the key to everything... I do a lot of steps everyday at work and that makes my thighs and hips very stiff. So doing a lot of stretching, mobility and balance training helped me hitting PRs almost every week since I started

@iammortalcombat yeah dude, i recently hit 40 and my routine has almost entirely transitioned to mobility-type exercises.

I've always been super hyper and active, doing moto and BMX and skating back in the day, to MMA type stuff, to functional/strength training, then I dabbled with an aesthetic approach, and all that sorta killed my back and now I have a bunch of disc issues and arthritis. I spend about 1.5 hours per day doing mobility stuff now and it's absolutely essential for me. If I slack on it, the chronic pain catches up extremely fast.

Bringing this back around to my denim - the 30 or so flights of stairs I take per day are probably responsible for my inability to fit 777's any more and I do find that 888's are the ticket if you have cycle/stair thighs.

I just got my first pair of IH the 634S I was after the 1955S but they were sold out, Being an avid cyclist for 40 years and having big thighs and what my tailor calls "a prominent seat" I can say that the 634S are a great fit I am looking forward to trying the 1955 when they are back in stock early next year however...

@Eza yea…good luck. I think I waited 3 years for the 1955 restock. However, 888s work well for me where the 634 was too low a rise in the front for my torso.

I think with how quickly they sold out this last go-round, it won’t be 3 years again.

@Eza fair enough. I also plan on the 1955s but I had two 21oz pickups this year and one of them was a surprisingly amazing relaxed fit straight leg from samurai

@iammortalcombat I am very interested to see how the 1955 will fit so far the 634S has been succulent and if you want to talk about samurai the 634 is based after the ultimate samurai Miyamoto Musashi! I like the fact that IH are very difficult and very slow to fade...How are the Samurai for fading?

Agreed! Ought to read Eiji Yoshikawa’s novelization of his life if you haven’t.

@mclaincausey I started practicing Kendo back in the 90s at University and became intrigued by all things Miyamoto Musashi! I have read it and it is excellent. Also, read all his published works and most recently the manga "Vagabond" which is epic and wonderful...

@Eza honestly I haven’t done more than soak them. I had gotten my 888s maybe a week before the samurai s510. Soaked the samurais to remove starchiness and then they got put away. I’ll probably rotate them in this year once the summer is over. Way too hot here for 21oz as it’s already 80f and 60-80% humidity.

                                        @flannel-slut I've done a bit of everything.

I was into powerlifting for a good 8 or 9 years or so - and initially put this gym together in early 2021 during the lockdowns with the rack, a couple of barbells, and something like a combined 260kg available in plates - but decided to pack it in at the end of 2022 after further progress became too much effort, I was getting too heavy, and (with the baby on the way especially) taking 2 hours a day to work out was becoming selfish.

When the baby turned up I was looking for workouts that I could do in under an hour and spent 2023 doing calisthenics and trying to get a skill or two under my belt (unsuccessfully). I wrecked my shoulder falling out of a handstand in the middle of '23 and spent 6 months or so seeing a physiotherapist and just doing what I could in the gym without causing the shoulder to flare up.

Earlier this year while looking for ways to enhance my shoulder strength and stability I came across some macebell workouts on YouTube, so I got one of those. And that led to another (heavier) one of those, then some kettlebells, and over the weekend I filled up those three sandbags.

So my training now is some sort of hybrid between bodybuilding and functional strength. I usually do some shoulder warmups then 3-5 sets of a main compound lift like bench, pullups, ring-dips, for the first 20-30 mins, then do a circuit with the kettlebell, macebell, and (now) sandbags. It's just sort of intuitive what I'll do each day at the moment, and I really need to sit down and workout a proper regime to follow for a few months and track progress against.

                                        So Tl;Dr: "calisthenics guy?" - I dabbled. 😅

                                        Take the dive...

Sounds like your on the right path to strengthening your shoulder and like @Graeme have a video I swear by as well (incorporates a lot of the same external rotation principles tho my guy is allergic to shirts).
