Anyone have a Canyon Speedmax? Been drooling over the CF SLX since Ironman Vichy and would love to be persuaded that they are horrible wastes of money.
-
@Nik absolutely horrible bike! Too much useful storage, too aero, too fast. Absolutely not worth it

I don’t own one but basically everyone around me. I rode one once and I fell in love. If I will commit to Triathlons or even Duathlons only, that’s the one for me to get. Value for money is great if you ask me.

What I feared

I have a Canyon MTB. Direct to consumer pricing makes them easily the best specced bikes at every price point. Only issues I've ever heard of someone having with a Canyon were with the newest Aeroad, and Canyon has since figured out solutions to those issues.

I’m kicking off my nth attempt at cycling to keep fit/healthy. We’ll see if I stick to it this time…
20 km at a very soft pace; hilly area; mostly paved, with approx 10% gravel or sandy terrain.
2 hours was my time…in my defense it was midday with 30 deg C and 92% relative humidity.

Speaking of Canyon, Valteri Bottas (F1 pilot) rides one. This looks like a casual ride but he races.

-
@mclaincausey The sweat marks on the handlebar are a bit of a give away! I guess "casual anything" is not part of an F1 drivers DNA.

@Denimhead-0 I see you solved the question of the shortest distance between two points is: a stop at the pub

Without creating a spoiler, what an enthralling race for the men’s Olympic MTB X-Country event today.
-
@Nocturama ah, thanks for the reminder. One of the events that I wanted to watch
-
Glad I changed my post to not say what happened @Tago-Mago

-
The women's race yesterday was also really good.

@mclaincausey valtteri is great and a total ripper on the bike. i’ve gotten to ride with him and tiff a lot through work and they are both great people. got to kick it at his place in lahti when i first visited a couple years ago. honestly sometimes i think he enjoys cycling more than driving haha.
-
cyclocross season is back! will be a few weeks before we get proper muddy courses in the USA, but had a solid rip today on the cervélo.

-
@indigo_nico fantastic ride
-
@indigo_nico Woof amazing looking machine
-
@indigo_nico How do you like the sram red?, ive always been tempted but not made the move from Shimano.
-
@jiminstitches full disclosure - I’ve worked at SRAM the last 5 years and was a supported athlete for 6 years before that so I may be a bit bias haha.
That said, I’m such a big fan of AXS. The shifting is a hair slower than Di2, but it’s super predictable. I also never have to adjust the shifting once it is set up, even as the chain stretches over time. I also love 1x. It’s so simple and the shifting is so intuitive.
I actually really prefer Force most days. Feels just the same, but the lower price makes me feel like I can beat it up a bit more and I’m not too much of a weight weenie so I don’t mind the weight difference.
Honestly, even Rival feels fantastic though it’s quite a bit heavier.
