@tody really annoying but my guess is this would be an easy job for your cobbler. Maybe an opportunity to improve on the original spec aesthetically as well as structurally?

@tody Thatโ€™s not good to hear from the manufacturer. Did you buy them from one of the stockists or second hand? Iโ€™m curious why they would not stand behind their product.

Total bummer @tody that really sucks after spending that kind of money. I fell like even if it was a less expensive pair of shoes that eyelets should stay attached. Thatโ€™s kind of a basic part of shoe making no?

I bought them second hand, but unworn. The question i asked was how to fix it, not to have them fix it. I expected an answer in the lines of that it is sometimes an issue, nothing to worry about, that a cobbler can fix it or even what eyelets they use and which (oversized) replacements they recommend. Unfortunately I didnโ€˜t get that kind of answer.

Thatโ€™s just terrible customer service, donโ€™t really know what else to say.

Looks like they may have punched the wrong (too large) diameter in the leather for that size of eyelet. Pretty lame response from them but this should be an easy fix.

@ARNC Tonal eyelets? Or a more contrasting colour?

@tody obviously up to you, but I was wondering about something that would evolve alongside the leather. Unlacquered copper or bronze could be fun, if available .

Finally got my first engineer boot and I am blown away by the feeling wearing these. It's like the first high quality badass looking leather jacket, it's Just very special. Sizing wise I went with the same size I wear in my M43 and Iron Rangers, 9.5 us. On the left foot it's perfect with just a little bit of heelslip, the right foot is a little snug at the toebox but no heelslip at all. I think with regular wear the cxl will give a little and they will be comfortable all day boots. The getting on process was as frustrating as lots of you were reporting. Left foot little wiggle and I was in, right foot was a struggle until I finally used the only plastic I could find. I will now leave them on for the day around the house.

Biggest problem now is that I need a leather jacket again ๐Ÿคฃ

lucky me I never had problems to get them on. But it will get better for sure ! the cxl is not that hardcore and will break in pretty fast compared to the shinki leather which is tough to break in.
