Is there a direct train from LHR to Portsmouth? I think driving in the UK (on the wrong side of the road) would be the death of me before I reach Gosport.

@Cole Heathrow doesn’t have a ‘real’ train station. You can either take the train into London, then Waterloo to Portsmouth or look for road transport from Heathrow to Portsmouth which would be about 90mins

@Cole I'm going to fly into Heathrow as well, much more convenient from Munich than Gatwick. The alternative appears to be a bus to Woking and then a train to Portsmouth. No idea how much of a pain this is

@Cole there is a bus from Heathrow to Woking and then a train from Woking to Portsmouth. I’ve travelled this route for every party.

The bus takes about 40 minutes and the train about an hour.

Two years ago, the bus was only running once an hour, which was less frequent than past years. The bus also has a tendency to be late.
