@J-IV damn. Some players on that Sonny Rollins album. Gonna have to dial that one up for a listen soon!

@GraemeE thanks bro! I’m going to go down that path for sure. Having a lot of fun digging into the genre. I know it goes as deep as one can ever dream.

@Mizmazzle closest to that Adderly album is Miles Davis Kind of Blue but I assume you’ve heard that.

On top of McLains reccs, I'd also peep Shelly Manne and his Men at the Blackhawk. He has a handful of them recorded. Similar swing and groove that Cannonball had on that album. Plus they're live albums - live jazz is undefeated @Mizmazzle

These are all great suggestions. I’m going to start working my way through them on Spotify and then look for great pressings of the ones that hit the sweet spot.

@Mizmazzle where do you look for great pressings? This weekend, I went through the entire catalog at rarerecords.net after @Kasi told us about how good Japanese pressings are. It's a nice site. Wondering if there are other places to get the good stuff for decent prices.

@GraemeE I was a huge Ferry/Roxy Music fan. I was still living at home in 1978 when The Bride Stripped Bare album was released. My mom was a little prudish and was not happy at all when I brought it into the house!
She was even more offended when she saw the cover of the Country Life Roxy album 😂

From what I’ve read, the 70’s era Japanese pressing can be among the best because of the virgin vinyl they used back then. While the states was already recycling older vinyl pellets by then, Japan was newly developing their pressing plants. Hence the dead silence the 70’s era Japanese pressings are known for. I wouldn't doubt for a second that they still apply their famous tenacity to details into modern pressings either. I have Meddle-The Wall Japanese first pressings and they are other worldly!!
