IH-888S-21od - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - OD'd

Well since I am waiting, I might as well ask some questions…

How does the aging of these compare to the non OD version? I have worn my 21oz 888s nearly everyday for a year now and love the fading, feel and color evolution.

I have seen pics of the OD version that look like standard faded indigo denim and I have seen other pics that have a more grey hue to them…almost like a well worn pair of black denim.

I am looking for something to complement my 21oz 888s.

If you sre looking for something different since you have the 888s, get the 888 21oz Sbg, bkack that fades to gray in high contrast and they should be in stock pretty soon.

@Ridgemont I've had a couple pairs of the OD and regular 21oz, and can say that in general the 21oz is mellow in terms of fading contrast, and the OD version is even mellower. Depending on how much you wash them, they can stay very dark grey for quite a while. I've seen the pics of the faded OD pairs you're talking about where they look pretty blue... I think those have just been washed a ton and/or worn for many years. Mine have never gotten anywhere near that blue.

@yannis thanks for the suggestion. I was going to do to that earlier this year but ended up with the black 14oz 888s. Those are great as well!

@popvulture thanks for your thoughts on the matter and that is also what I suspected. Good to get confirmation from the experts. I definitely prefer stubborn faders. I’ve had denim in the past that lighten and change color on first wash…not to mention getting knee fades after kneeling a couple of times.

@Ridgemont IH is slow fading for sure. For me that’s a good thing love dark indigo colorways. You can’t go wrong with IH OD.

Anticipating getting a pair of these after the restock. I wear a size 33 in the 888-SB non-fade, which fit very well, although I asked for the largest waist and thigh measurements possible on those (this came out to 32.7 and 12.9 inches, respectively). Looking the OD measurement chart, the 33 OD seem to be very similar to the SB Non-Fade, except the front rise is .5 inches shorter and the thigh a tiny bit slimmer.

So wondering if I should stick to a 33 in these when the time comes – and again ask for the largest waist and thigh measurements – or consider sizing up to a 34. Any advice would be appreciated

I might be misrecollecting, but did the dying process change from previous runs? And if so, has this affected the amount the fabric will stretch after wearing? Want to get an idea if I should order same size, or size up if less stretching to be expected.
