It’s the weekend so why not

Will say it always pales in comparison to the cafe in Withington Manchester when I was at uni but they did have chips and black pudding

I’ve (US) always called those egg in the holes and so does Laura (CAN). Must be a UK/N.Amer. thing. What does everybody else call it?

Laura also reminded me that they also called it “toad in the hole”.

Why’s that? Is the batter consistency hard to get right and cook thoroughly?

My mother when I was a child called it "ducky wucky".

Team toad-in-a-hole over here but that sausages in batter variety sure does look like something I could get down with.

Pretty much yes
A big Yorkshire pudding with sausages in it

I love Yorkshire puddings and sausages but for some reason not when together as a toad in the hole

My late grandmother always used to give everyone the option of having Yorkshire puddings as a starter or with their main Sunday roast
