Some numpty just drove into the back of us. Think Mrs H and I have mild whiplash, but more worried about Baby H, who seems fine, but she’s 7 months old so couldn’t tell us if she wasn’t. Called the doctors out of hours service and they have told us to wake her every hour to make sure she can wake up, so even if she is fine she’ll be ratty as hell tomorrow.

Don’t text and drive kids, you’ll fuck up your brand new Mercedes.

So glad we bought a larger motor last year.

Got a bit of a headache and the neck feels a bit tight, both Mrs H and me. We’re probably being over cautious about Baby H, but like I say she couldn’t tell us if she wasn’t ok, so we’ve got to do the checking. She had a quick cry after the crash but settled quickly with some cuddles from Mum. Bath time and bedtime feed were all completely normal, no bruising or anything on her.

@Nik Ha! Mate I have been the model crashee. I started by asking if HE was ok while Mrs H checked on the baby.

His Merc wasn’t going to make it very far, so he parked it round the corner from my place. I even texted him to say he’d left the window open and warned him that some of the late night visitors around here like to check if they can get into cars.

Best bit was when he asked me if I thought it was going to affect his no-claims bonus. I said “yeah, I used to be a road-traffic-accident lawyer, and yours is definitely going to be affected”.

Shit happens. We are ok. Hopefully another young man has learned not to text and drive before they had to learn an even harder way.

Properly installed infant seats are tough to beat for baby safety. They’re in there pretty good.

@AdamJ @Giles Thanks both. Definitely appreciate being in a larger car now. My last car would have come off worse for sure. Baby H is OK, not worried about her one bit now. All passed on to insurance to deal with now.

@EdH …and to continue my thoughts, are those types of cases as prevalent in the UK as in the US? Are there non stop ads on the radio and tv for injury lawyers like here?

I worked to fight insurance fraud every day for 16 years and my first thought whenever I’m involved in something is “Can I get insurance money out of this?”
