A little late, but I've just RSPV'd and booked a room. It will be my first time visiting Germany, looking forward to meeting y'all

I'm planning to do 3 nights in Hamburg and then get the train over the Berlin for the rest of the week. Can anyone advise whether or not pre-booking a train is worthwhile? Is the price (29EUR) or availablity likely to change if I book last minute?

@T4920, if you are firm on day and time you want to head to Berlin why not book now as 29EUR sounds like a good price.

There is also a bus between Hamburg and Berlin. It takes about 3 hours. Even if you book last minute it will be about the same price as the train you’re currently looking at.

@T4920 Yes, the earlier you book a fixed date and time, the cheaper the ticket is. That makes sense. It's called "Super Sparpreis" by DB (Deutsche Bahn)

Regretfully, I don't think I'll be able to make it, despite Hamburg being such a short journey. A conflagration of new(ish) baby, a good mate likely to be needing some emotional/financial support at around that time, transitioning to being primary breadwinner when Mrs H's maternity pay gets cut around then, etc.

I look forward to living it vicariously through posts on here though.

While I can't make it to the party due to other travel plans, we booked a last minute trip and will finally make our way to Hamburg after many many trips to Germany before. Excited to checkout the city and the store in just over a week! If anyone wants me to do specific recon of anything I can do my best.
