I would be willing to make a new thread or you can spin this off into it's own thread if you want to…

I’ll have a look at it later this evening.

@Filthy this is some killer shit, man! I'm gonna use these tips, for sure.

Out of curiosity, when you said you sold all of your well-worn pairs, did you find that people were willing to pay a premium due to the results of your expert fading, or were you just selling them to make room for new jeans? Just curious because I know people love faded jeans, but I've always wondered if people actively seek those out, seeing that (imo) a lot of the fun is fading em yourself.

My only advice to the OP is just don't be like me and buy way too many pairs for you to ever possibly fade. I need to hire a fading intern.

I'd say there's a small premium there but still less than retail.

            That’s some dedication Mike

I try and wear for as long as possible but honey combs always come last for me. Probably because I have to wash them so often due to work.

That's a pretty awesome end result if you get to enjoy the jeans and make a decent amount back!

When I buy a pair of Iron Heart I automatically deduct $250 mentally from the price. With a few exceptions I have been able to make that amount back and then some. Part of the reason why this forum is so awesome.

Since Mike has influenced me a lot with his techniques i wanted to honor him with making his starch recipe.

One thing that a I remember form a while ago is taking a spray bottle of water and dampening behind the legs before your day. Apparently this helps? I’ve never tried it myself and don’t particularly have great combs in my denim evo. Maybe this will accelerate your combs

So i made the starch exactly through the recipe Mike shared with us. I’m very curious how this will work out. But like Mike i will first spray the combs with water and wear them damp for like a month or so. Then i will starch them up and share the evo with you guys!

On my latest pair--the 634S 19L I started from the beginning to dry my hands on the back of my knees every time I washed my hands.
I noticed that the honeycombs set firmly from the start.
Turns out that I wash my hands a lot during the day from my work...so lots of hand drying going on.
I use this same method with the honeycombs on my denim shirts as well...patting down the inside of my elbows to dry my hands.

                                      Make your own starch:
Get a spray bottle and fill full of water. Pour the (cold) water into a metal pan and add two tablespoons of corn starch and mix very well until all the lumps are out. Then heat on low heat until the solution starts to thicken, keep stiring as much as possible about five minutes (until it boils). Let cool overnight and use a funnel to add all of the liquid and residual starch into the spray bottle. Shake vigorously before spraying. I only put starch on the inside of the jeans because it will leave white flaky residue on your jeans.

After trying to spray my Wabash bib honeycomb just with water, in an effort to set the creases, I tried this today. Mike explained this to me years back and a quick search brought me here. I love how the forum has a wealth of knowledge on this kind of stuff. I'm excited to see how they turn out when dry. Baking in the sun now.

I've sprayed the front and back parts of the legs and bib after turning them inside out.
