What I have noticed Jacques Marie Mage
Ridiculously put the price up more for than it should be

As example walker would cost 600 last year add a another 200

I’ve heard that they have overwhelmed their atelier in Japan and aren’t even finishing some runs right now, so there is a supply and demand element probably involved. Keep in mind the 10mm acetate blocks take weeks to cure too.

I see lots of celebs wearing them and then there’s the whole Succession thing. They’re aspirational goods now so who knows what will happen.

I’ve noticed the price hike too and scratched my head about it, wondered if it’d drive people away. Certainly did for me! I already felt bad about spending 600 on a pair of shades, definitely never doing 800.

I think personally JMM’s taking the piss

I brought over 20 pair’s last year

So to buy the same amount am paying 4000 more.

Rather buy more Good Art and Iron Heart

Maybe a longshot but has anyone purchased from Silver Deer in Mexico? Going on vacation next week and was hoping to grab some sunglasses, but on their website everything is significantly($200+) more expensive than elsewhere. Their Iron Heart prices seem to be more in line. Wondering if it'll be more normal priced in store / if I'm getting a more expensive price because I'm shopping online from the US.

In my past trips to Mexico I usually end up paying a bit less than I would shopping in the US, so I end up putting off larger splurge purchases until I'm there!

Premium luxury goods tend to be way more expensive in Mexico, in my experience. Especially in Mexico City, the folks who are shopping high end can and do pay the premium.

I've actually had pretty good luck with the opposite in recent years! Usually end up paying slightly less in retail and getting the ~6-10% VAT tax refund at a lot of the luxury stores.

Either way, ended up grabbing a pair of Torino's online last night. Cooler heads prevailed and I opted for a black frame, but I can't stop thinking about the Reserve pair...

Thanks for the encouragement @Matt and @Jcaz6996 . They are surprisingly comfy given their hefty appearance and don’t feel heavy while wearing them.
