IHSH-246-NIN - 12oz Selvedge Denim Western Shirt – Natural Indigo
-
This I like quite a bit. I’ve mentioned it before but it’s almost as light as a TW denim shirt that I bought off of @Seul 7 years ago. That shirt is BEAUTIFUL!

Since this is the NIN shouldn't get like an additional name? The Pretty Hate Machine? The Mr. Self Destruct?
-
Gotta admit, I like "The Pretty Hate Machine".
-
@setandsetting I love it. And given the NIN link with JC, and the IH link with JC, we could always call it The Hurt Shirt.
-
Hurt Shirt…. Yes
-
After lengthy discussions here, we have decided on "The Hurt Shirt"….
Words by @Graham and thanks to @setandsetting and @neph93 for getting us here:
Johnny Cash covering Hurt by NIN was paramount to the revival of Johnny Cash's career in the Noughties when he teamed up with Rick Rubin to do the 'American Recording Sessions' So much so that it is a common misconception that people think JC wrote Hurt. The mention of "The Hurt Shirt"' on the forum I quite like, it is a NIN song through and through with a nod to Cash and the IHSH-218 at the same time.
-
Yeah, that'll work.
I absolutely love Cash's version, though it's so bleak it impairs my mental health to listen to it too frequently.
-
Never underestimate the power of a sad song (or a good shirt) to uplift your spirits.
-
That is one of the only songs that I feel the cover is better than the original. No offense but even Trent Reznor agrees.
Upon my liars chair….

JC’s version is stunning in it’s own right, but NIN version is wicked in it’s invocation of the depths of addiction.
Potentially controversial: I love The Beatles but Siouxsie & The Banshees version of Helter Skelter beats Lennon and Macca’s by a country mile. In fact I can name two or three other Beatles covers that are superior to the OG version. It’s a testament to how good their song writing was, of course.
-
Awesome!
NIN at Madison Square Garden in '94 was my first concert. The Trent solo performance of Hurt behind the video screen playing animal corpses decaying in reverse was very memorable.

@neph93 this is an incendiary comment, one I am truly offended by. For someone who knows Paul McCartney's nickname, I expect a lot better. (I am joking, of course, but not really :D)
