The buttons were the hardest ever.

      ^^

I used a wrench to stretch them out 🙂

I think you once posted a picture of your fingers after wrestling with the buttons. All blue.

You’ve definitely got your work cut out for you with these and there’s even an extra button.

Pro tip: do it up before you put them on, never undo it again. I learnt that after my first pair of XHS.

Thanks. Yeah I usually only undo the top 2 or 3. I wish these bastards had a zipper.

That’s exactly what I’v always done in the past, could not button the bottom button unless I was wearing them. It will never be opened again.

I accidentally unbutton it sometimes when I am trying to whip it out fast. Hence why I wish they had a zipper. One of these days I am going to buy an entire run of 25 XHS jeans with a zipper and no back yoke/ half inch thick intersection of seams.

@Filthy I ended up going with your recommendation and got the tag 31.  Will report back, assuming I can breathe with them on 😉

You're a thin lad. I'm sure you will make it. I was just basically reiterating what you were saying. You were saying that you didn't think a size 32 would look good stretched out.

Truth. Of the 5 pr i have, the bottom button has NEVER been undone.

The first 2 times buttoning nearly any heavy, burly, stiff denim I've had is excruciating. I usually use a flat head screw driver on the back of the button to push it through the buttonhole. After a wash they're all fine after the 4th or 5th time.

I get the bottom half of the button flange through the button hole, then use the flat edge of the screw driver parallel to the back of the upper half of the button flange to push the rest through through, while trying to pry the top half of the button hole fabric over. Mostly I use a flat head driver bit cuz it's small, but I'll use anything handy that I can fit between the fabric and back of the flange. 😎

Must be quite the occasion for the other patrons to witness if you need to pull this off at a public toilet. 😎

I usually only have to resort to this once or twice, so by the time I venture out in public it's not a problem.

Never thought buttoning a fly would draw so much attention…  😉
