I have the 235s with cables as well as the Bluetooth adapter and love them. I use the foam tips.

Only complaint is that the mic pics of a ton of ambient noise, frustrating efforts to use my phone in loud environments.

Open Sennheiser HD 518 for office listening.

yeah i was contemplating the shure bluetooth adapters. but i was introduced to the westones bluetooth adapter and the cable connection for the ear buds are the same. placebo effect or not, i felt the westones bluetooth adapter had a better output than the shure ones.. which makes me contemplate getting a pair of westones um pro 50s..

no comment on the ambient nosie with mic. didn't notice much difference when i had them wired..

One area where the Shure unit shines is battery life. It lasts forever, and this includes when not in use. It can sit turned off for days and still have several hours left when you fire it up. It's also a bit more compact. But I'd bet dollars to doughnuts the sound is better on the Westones.

        Think it, be it.

didn't really take note of the battery life of the wireless unit. during comparison, i've only tested the sound quality. in real life use with the westones unit, it's managed to meet my demands so far. with that being said, i haven't flown any long haul flight lately. my nov flight to the UK(13+hrs) will be a good test to see how the battery holds up for the duration of the flight.

i was speaking to the guy at the audio store and he was introducing me to earphone amplifiers as well. it definitely makes a huge difference to what you plug into but i still can't bring myself to carry another extra unit around, especially when i use it mostly for travel.

Amps are great, but indeed kind of a hassle. Not sure how that would work with BT though.

I've dabbled with open back headphones but never settled. I now use Bowers and Wilkins P3s with a closed back. I don't listen to music when I'm travelling around. I used to but personally I prefer to interact with the world around me with all senses. I'm not one for downloading music either, I only own music on CD or vinyl. Not to get into the digital/analogue debate here (analogue wins though, you all know that right?  :D)

@chbronsonx nice record player, and MGLA vinyl. Fan of Kriegsmachine too? Must be I guess…

The Trichord is excellent value for money. It pairs really well with my planar 6. I find it is neutral enough not to effect the natural tone of the rega, and gives enough weight in the low range without overdriving and sounding boomy (depending on your speaker choice). I'd have had to jump to the £600 price bracket to get anything as good.

So do I, but when you fly as much as I do (I used to be on a plane 4-6 times a week when I was corporate), then a pair of headphones and some decent music or film is a Godsend.

The obverse is that I now rarely play music at home and never when I am on my own.

@Giles I can completely understand that. I'd likely do the same on a flight. Very little to interact with on an oversized tin can for 10 hrs!

I often have a talk radio station on when I'm driving now instead of music. I've decided that it is part of the ageing process as the majority of people that phone in to rant are over 45…meaning it can't be long before I make my first call  😠

it's without a doubt analogue wins hands down. digital give you the possibility of taking it with you wherever you go. whether you listen to a loseless or compressed format. with that said, the only times i'm plugged in is when i'm driving or catching a flight. i don't carry a music player with me if i head out to the shops or to a coffee shop.. and no i do not use my phone for music too..

nah it wouldn't. that would have to be wired for sure.

When flying, some noise cancelling / dimming headphones make a huge difference on how rested one feels on the other side.

Same here, and you're right the difference is noteworthy.  So much so that I'm seriously considering relegating my low end NC headphones to exclusive work duty and springing for a quality pair specifically for travel.

I bought these about 6 yrs ago and are a great pair of headphones. Bought them at Heathrow for a flight i was taking as i'd left my headphones at home.

No, but you might be better off with a dedicated mp3 player. Won't be obsolete when you upgrade your phone.

@organisys I completely agree, MP3 is a much better format in my opinion and the AK ripper is a great way to convert CD data.

Downloads are such a waste of money too. They have no resale value and it is not in Apple or any other provider's interest to do so.

Most of the cds I own that are more than 5 years old have resale values of between £20 and £700. I recently sold my black metal collection alone for £1800.
